Some of my songs won't play!

I haven't checked on my other devices, but some of my songs in my music library on my iPhone wont play. When I shuffle a playlist, it will always skip these songs. It will quickly show the album artwork but then it skips to the next song that will play. The same thing when I try to click on one of these songs, when I click it it quickly shows the album artwork then goes to the next playable song. I tried starting the songs from another point, but it still won't play. I'm not sure if it's an issue with syncing my phone or what.. Sometimes when I sync I end up getting doubles of a song as well, I don't know if that goes along with my songs that won't play. Help please! I've spent a lot of money on songs that won't even play any longer!

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

When I play a song it plays about 2 seconds of it before it skips to another song. I bought the song as a part of an album & I can't remember it ever not working before. I tried playing it on my iPad & the same thing happened. I then went to try & re-download it from the iTunes store & can only listen to 2 seconds of it even in the store. I don't know what to do next.

Please help!

This is so incredibly aggravating to me. I have had the same issues for the last 6 months or so and the only way to fix it is to delete the song and resync. That's all well and good except that I never find out that the song won't play until I'm in my car wanting to listen to it and then have to remember to do this later. This isn't a solution its a bad workaround. There have been half a dozen updates since this problem started and none of them fixing it.

Does anyone have any idea why this happens? This is not specific to one type of media -- I don't use iCloud. I have a lot of music that I have ripped myself and a lot of music that has been downloaded from other sources like Google Play, Microsoft Music, etc. This has happened to songs from every source.

To top this off sometimes songs won't even sync -- yesterday about a dozen songs wouldn't sync to my phone when I tried adding them. There isn't anything different about them from anything else. The rest of the albums they are part of synced just fine but no matter what they just would not sync. This is getting ridiculous...why is it the company that literally is responsible for facilitating the digital era as far as music goes can't seem to make music sync anymore without a problem?

I'm with you Lukeout007, I'm about ready to trade my iPhone in for an Android or something. Never thought I would be saying that but I am sick and tired of my iTunes library going on the fritz everytime there's a stupid iOS update and then spending hours trying out all of the workarounds to try and retrieve the music I have PURCHASED! And I have lost a lot of purchased songs that I'm still trying to figure out where they went. I'm just fed up with Apple, time for a change I guess.

Fixing missing songs from downloaded CD's

This walk through is for when your music will show up in your iTunes library but not on your device, your device will skip a song or just wont play it, or when your looking at your playlist of your device when its plugged into iTunes and some songs appear grey or have a dotted circle next to them on the left hand side.

1. plug your iPhone into your computer and open iTunes

2. find the songs that are not playing, usually they will be in grey and not the normal black and/or the will have and write them down (writing down is only really necessary when multiple songs are missing.)

3. eject your device using the eject icon

4. repeat step 3 until the songs that were grey no longer appear

5. open the playlist that had the songs, but now are not there anymore, and re-add the songs from your list

6. back up your device

7. eject and your done!

This sometimes happens when your adding music from CD's because either

1. you did not eject your device properly, with the eject icon

2. CD's are not apple bought and they just glitch, the system recognizes that glitch and removes it thus removing the song.

As a side note ALWAYS backup your device to your computer manually not through the cloud. its much better to have a "hard copy" of your devices backup. Cloud content is much easier to lose than a copy on your hard drive.

I hope this helps!!
