Hey Monstrophotos,

I found another discussion about that error message where it looks like the person solved their issue by following these steps:

  1. Quit iTunes.
  2. Open iTunes.
  3. Test the issue.
  4. If it persists, sign in to store.apple.com using your iTunes account.
  5. Change your country if necessary
  6. Click on Change account information
  7. Modify or remove your credit card information.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Test the issue.

For those reading this for the first time, a big reason why the threads don't often go on is that the problem inevitibly fixes itself. Earlier today I was getting the 5002 error for about 3 hours straight. It only happened on my Mac Pro, but not on my laptop or iPhone. I was able to buy things on these other devices, but for some reason (could be Mac Pro was ethernet and the other devices were wifi) the Mac Pro's iTunes was unable to login to my account.

Smash cut to three to four hours later and all is fine. Keep in mind I did all the things requested and asked for on a number of different threads as well as the one listed above. In other words, I did change my accont information, I did track down my iTunes music folder and changed the permissions, I even ran disk utility. I also accessd the apple store and the app store on my Mac Pro and was able to log in, but for some reason the iTunes store would not let me login to it.
