isight not recognized in Skype after 10.8.5 upgrade

Hi!

I'd like to report that replacing the 10.8.5's AppleCamera.plugin at "Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/" with the 10.8.4's AppleCamera.plugin works to solve webcam issue for Hangout and Skype! Even though this is temporary work around, thanks for the suggestion!

Note:

Initially when I try to download the plugin from Cybermaster's post, I did not realize the file he posted is a ".zip" file, and so when chrome browser's download prompt showed up asking me to save as ".zip" or ".plugin", I just picked to save it as ".plugin", which would not work. It is not until Zebastian Larsson pointed out that it's a zip file then I realized I did it wrong! I ended up downloading Zebastian's copy, and unzip, and drag over to "/Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/ " to replace, and it worked!! Thanks!

Hello, i got same problem, but when I go to the Library folder, there is no CoreMediaIO folder. What i am doing wrong?

Stanedav: From what I have seen I think the directory only appears after the 10.8.5 update. I can be certain as I am not at work right now and don't have access to a 10.8.4 machine.

I have got 10.8.5 but folder is not there. Is it possible that this folder is hidden and I have turned off hidden folder visibility?

Oh, sorry I have put all the time in go to tab ~/Library/ instead of /Library/ now I can see that folderr.. sorry I am noob with mba:)

Billiant! This worked for me for Skpye and Google Hangouts. I note that the file appears to me to have the same date and version number for both the current and time machine (prior) versions. Date is 5/20/2013 at 11:16PM and version is 210.0. However the byte counts differ. The "current" file was 2,112,088 bytes, while the prior version from time machine before the update is 2,284,304 bytes.

Sorry, I'm pretty new to MBA and I don't understand what you're saying with the /library/ and AppleCamera.plugin. I updated to 10.8.5 and skype doesn't recognize my camera is there someone who can explain to me simply how to fix this? Do I need time machine?

I had same problem with mymac book air mid 2013 since i updated mac os to 10.8.5.

You just replace the file of camera plugin of your current plugin from the previous one. follow these steps

1. Go to library

2. Open Mcantosh HDD

3. go to LIBRARY then CoreMediaIO then Plugins then DAL

you will find a file names Applecmera.plugin

4. Replace this file with the file of version mac os x 10.8.4 .

5. restart. its Done !!

Note: if you dont have that old file. skype me at engr.qaisar

This did not work for me - I'm not sure why, since the skype/hangout problem is the EXACT one I'm having. I've reinstalled flash a couple of times and have disabled my chrome flash. Neither skype nor gchat are working. Any tips would be appreciated, and Apple, PLEASE FIX THIS! Your customers rely on gchat and skype!

Mac OSX 10.8.5

Tried this and it makes both iphoto and skype not work. When I put the old plugin back iphoto starts working again but skype still doesn't.
