isight not recognized in Skype after 10.8.5 upgrade

Hey!

I was wondering what I'm suppose to do with this file? If I just open it, it just takes me to the terminal and it doesn't tell me anything about my camera plugin? My time machine is not turned on for your reference.

This is all very well. But shouldn't Apple be fixing this? Surely it doesn't expect millions of users to juggle the software!

You would think, but think again;

Millions of users forced away from Skype and Google Hangouts onto Facetime.

How is that bad thing for Apple?

Why release a fix when in 3 more weeks Mavericks is released and you can force millions to buy the upgrade to get a fix? Also that give youy total deniability, you never released a fix that could be used as prroof that your products are not godlike bugfree.

Weird, this didn't work for me because I don't see a CoreMediaIO directory in my older TimeMachine backups. Anyone else having this problem?

I don't seem to have this file, either. This is very frustrating. My MBA is only two months old and I can't use basic software. Does anyone from Apple have a solution?

So, the workaround didn't work for me for some reason (7/2013 MBA). When I took it to apple, they basically said they're working on it, it has to do with the 32/64 bit incompatibility and enough people have had problems that it will hopefully be fixed soon. How long that is, is anyone's guess!

Unfortunately the offical fix from Apple didn't work for me.

I tried to install it from software update as well as manualy from the link http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1686

I had to re-apply the FIX as described earlier by Cybermaster.

The official fix not only doesn't work, but now my camera isn't recognized by facetime or photobooth. I just tried resetting the smc with no luck and did a few shutdowns and restarts. I do notice that my coremediaio/dal folder has TWO plugins. Is this normal?

btw. facetime on my iphone4 isn't working either. Feeling angry and disconnected right now :/

I did this a few days ago and it fixed my problem.

Today (Oct 4th) I downloaded the latest update and it broke again.

Right now only iPhoto, Facetime and Firefox recognize iSight.

iMovie, skype and other browsers are not detecting it.

If I use that same plugin - nothing works.

Yay! Finally, it worked for me! Thanks!
