It's no longer instant-on. It's pretty **** slow 😟.
Anybody else experiencing this?

Failed to mention that I have a late 2012 iMac (w/Fusion drive).
Looking in the Console log I saw entries refering to hibernate - though why should a wall-powered iMac go into hibernate (in the USA)? Read the Mac computers: Progress bar appears after waking from sleep posted by Linc Davis, and it seems to indicate that evern USA iMacs are getting hibernated instead of left in sleep mode.
Yes, exactly. My Australian iMac is hibernating after 10.8.5, which I DON'T want it to do! Don't get any progress bar though. It just behaves exactly the same as my Retina Macook Pro now, which is frustrating.
More details about my setup is I have 2 x 240 GB 6G SSD configured as RAID 0. I have computer sleep turned off so I can access it from remote locations, however, I have display sleep turned on.
The 10.8.5 Supplemental Update (from 03 Oct) seems to fix the issue. It hasn't happened for me today at least.
Good stuff!
Installed 10.8.5 Supplemental Update and my sleep problems on iMac 21.5 late 2012 and Apple TrackPad are fixed.
i think its been fixed with this update too....i have seen my computer wake from a short and a prolonged sleep state as quick as 10.8.4. and the bluetooth keyboard doesn't lag or have to play catch-up when typing in the password
The updated has fix mine also. I let it sleep overnight and it came up perfectly.
So far seems to be fixed for me as well. (Although it takes longer to get to sleep now - not sure if related)
I am having this problem with my MacBook Pro running 10.8.5. Since the update it has started rebooting from on waking from sleep. Frustrating. I have tried SMC and PRAM reset. I have installed the 10.8.5 Combo and 10.8.5 Supplemental Updates and no change in status.
It is interesting that this reboot problem did not start immediately when I performed the original 10.8.5 update but only started later. Also, my cursor is also behaving badly. Every now and then it dissapears and then I have to pull the mouse/cursor back to the start bar and it appears again and functions normally. There is likely a link or clue to the underlying problem there....
The wake wasnt my problem, it wakes in like 1 second, but going into sleep is my problem, that takes about 30 seconds now, where it took 1 second 2 months ago. I only have this imac for a few monts... anyone has a suggestion?
I'm running a brand new iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core I5 that I picked up Friday night. All software is up to date and I too have the problem of it waking after being in prolonged sleep state. I haven't found any solution to the problem here other than some say their software update took care of the problem. Still must be an issue for some - this one is fresh out of the box.
The wake issue is solved for me, so I'd file a new bug report with Apple. I presume your new iMac is the new model with the NVidia 700 series gfx card?
Mine *does* take take a long time to get to sleep now, though...
Same here. The delay moved form waking to sleeping. But since I'm usually off after I put it to sleep it's not as big an issue - would still be nice if it's fixed.
My graphicis is Intel Iris Pro 1024 MB. The iMac goes to sleep in a second and wakes up quickly after it's sat a while - it's after prolonged sleep mode - like overnight - that it takes at least 30 seconds to come to life. A faint grey screen with the icons and bars come up as it "awakens". Doesn't matter if I try using the bluetooth keyboard or the USB trackball.
Sounds like you iMac is hibernating, Spooker. This was happening to my iMac before the 10.8.5 supplemental update. Are you sure there are no updates available? 10.8.5 and the supplemental update both say you have 10.8.5 installed. Force a check for updates via the Apple menu, and make sure you do that on a userid with admin privileges - I've seen updates missed when not on an admin user.
