Is it possible to delete a paragraph/sentence on iPad notes, instead of backspace delete?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.2, iOS mail app folders not collapsed

Highlight the text you want gone and with the finger held on the screen you should get the option to "cut". Then tap that when the text is highlighted

I just realized that the keyboard has to be open or you get a slightly different set of options when touching screen.
