Colours in Logic Pro X have to change - agree?

Hi

I wonder what other users of Logic Pro X think about the new colour choices? Personally I don't mind the darker background but the colours available to use for objects in the arrange window seem very dull and depressing to me. The main reason is that there is no pure yellow or red meaning two of the primary colours are not there. Instead there seem to be various shades of brown or muddy greenish sludge colours. Some of the greens, blues and purple/scarlet type colours are nice but no red or yellow!???? It seems insane.Colours have a powerful pschological impact I think and I used to use a pure bright yellow to highlight certain instruments or to highlight a particularly good take in a vocal for example. Now the closest I can get is a turgid muddy horror show. I find it very depressing.

Does anyone agree with me? I've sent this as feedback but I imagine it will need a lot of people to do the same before anything is done about it.

i have jumped from Logic 7 (and had been using if you about 10 years I think maybe longer ) I recently took the plung with a new fat mac and logic X and I have to say I am very disapointed in the disney world that the colours put me in and especially after doing some serious mixing - i have just had to take a day off after only 4 days mixing because of a migrain - and when i shut my eyes all i see is that bloody logic sceen ! - i think i prefer the boring looking world of Logic 7 it make me feel serious about my work -

anyone agree ?

Hi. Sorry to hear you are suffering from migraines, but I couldn't disagree more. The mods people have come up with, with their neon bright palettes, look more Disney-esque to my eye. It seems like most criticisms of the Logic X colors have been that they are too dark and dreary, not too Disney. I like dark, rich colors, and I think the new Logic look is perfect. And I definitely feel it is more "serious" than the hideous pastel and light grey look of Protools, which was my platform for the last ten years.

However, one thing which makes me feel less serious when using Logic are the silly track icons. I'm glad we can turn those off.

I find the palette comfortable on the eye but it is so limited! There are 72 colours but the tonal range is very weak (squint at the palette to get a sense of this). Some of the colours are quite similar so a better tonal range would differentiate one from the other. Where are the bold colours?

Anyone used Reason? Fewer colours but a better range - how difficult is that?

I don't have a visual impairment but I can imagine that if someone finds it difficult to distinguish some colours then Logic's poor tonal range would render the palette almost useless.

The colours don't bother me so much... but what does bother me, is that there's still no preference to automatically match region colours to match mixer colours. (I know there's a shortcut, but it's pretty tedious having to go through a session making sure all your mixer colours match your region colours). Call me old fashioned - some people like working with multiple colour regions on the same track... but I like my vocals blue, my BV's red etc).😉

LPX's UI ain't perfect... yes a little dark, yes a little big... yes a lot of wasted space, but I have to admit it's growing on me. When I open a L9 session it actually now feels a little old fashioned (more so than a L7 session).

Time will tell...
