Iphone 3gs turns onto ios6 screen, then turns off and goes back to apple logo

My Iphone 3gs keeps turning onto ios6 screen, i swipe to unlock, it then says conect to itunes which i do... the little phone icon comes up on the itunes screen going round in a circle then disappears...then the phone turns itsemf off and then starts again???? please please help
