"Disk was not ejected properly" error shows up everytime I wake up my imac... started a days back

This started a few days back when I updated my Mac OS X. Not sure it's related but that's when this issues started. I can see it's due to my external HD (seagate go flex 1.5T, TB connected) from the log file but not sure why this is happening all of a sudden.

Any way I can fix this issue? I properly ejected and re-connected the drive but the problem still persiste. I set up my iMac to go to sleep after one hour of inactiveness by the way.

Appreciate any tips for this.

U mean for upgrading to Mavericks? I wish... that's what we are all trying here I think.

Yes, I think I tired all. Not much recommendation if you read the thread. Installed the combo, I even uninstalled the software as you recommend... I even check disk utility to repair the external HD... I think've done it all. Any new recommendation? I am eager to hear more options, really.

Okay, for those who eager to try to resolve this issue... Here is my 2 cents that I got from the chat with Apple.

They are proposing, system controller reset and PRAM.

First eject your HD properly.

System controller reset : power off and unplog the power for a minute or 2

PRAM :

Power off, immediately press and hold comm+Option+P+R

keep holding down until you hear the 2nd stratup chime

release after the 2nd chime and continue...

after all this, connect the HD and test it out.

I wish to try this now but am work now... so will try this later. Anyone who can try this, do so... seems like no harm exepcted... let me know if anyone having success with this resolution.

Good luck.

For what it's worth, I don't get the error any more... For those who want to try

Here is what I did :

Open the finder, eject the external drive (this was recommended by Apple tech, not sure what difference it makes).

Then do the system controller reset, leave it unplugged about 10 to 15 mins (not sure about time, this is how long I did).

Then do NVRAM reset (see the instruction above).

Then plug the external drive back in.

Run the disk utility (verify & repair both, againm all was okay even before but I ran it one more time anyway).

Good luck.

Unfortunately, from Apple support in response to a feedback submission, they are aware of this issue but there is no ETA.

However, it has been said on other forums that you can work around the problem by setting your monitor to "never" sleep which ironically causes your hard disks to "never" sleep either. So, 10.8.5 somehow "tied" the two previously separate settings together.

Not an elegant solution but better than a corrupt disk if you cannot go back to 10.8.4 using a Time Machine or other backup (Super Duper/ Carbon Copy Cloner) restore.

Hope this helps someone.

helpful informationt that Apple acknowledges this issue. I hope they get to this issue soon. I really want this to be resolved before I move on to Mavericks.

I've been put my iMac "never" sleep mode lately. Surely it worked. Would there be any potential issues if I put my machine "never" sleep mode? Besides wasting electricity? I am just wondering...

Thanks
