Yes. You can install Windows using Apple's Boot Camp or (my preferred method) as a virtual machine under an app such as Parallels (which I use and can recommend).
Either way is pretty simple - I just like being to access everything from two different OS's.

Easier still would be to install the Mac version of Microsoft Office.
You forgot to mention what application/s are required for this 'microsoft project'.

"Microsoft Project" is a stand-alone MS application -> http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project/.
There's a new 2013 version out now - last version was 2010, I think.
It's not part of either Windows or Mac Office.

Yes, it will definitely run. I downloaded the newest trail version and ran it under Windows 7 Pro using Parallels.
I've always loved project - my work never demanded 100% of my time using Project, but about 30% of my working hours!
