Safari 5.1.10 won't load
I installed Safari 5.1.10 and cannot open any webpages, I tried to re-install v 5.1.9 but the download is no longer available. Any suggestions for fixing this issue?

Might be a proxy issue.
You do not need to load a webpage to do this.
With Safari open, press Command , (comma) to open the Preferrences window then select the Advanced tab.
Click Change Settings to the right of Proxies.
That will open System Preferences > Network > Proxies for you.
Deselect any selected boxes on the left then quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, go to System Preferences > Sharing then select the Firewall tab.
Turn off the Firewall if it's turned on, then quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Thank you!!
Trying to get some use out of an old MacBook. Safari 5.1.10 on OS 10.6.8 (the latest OS version that can load on this machine).
Firefox and Chrome worked just fine (sidebar: I always find it annoying when 3rd party vendors can operate better than Apple's own software on its Macs).
Ran though Linc's and Carolyn's fixes but they didn't work or didn't apply (though their help has been invaluable in the past). Restarting in Safe Mode (holding down Shift Key while restarting) made no difference. Reset Safari from the pulldown menu. Deleted the cache file. Everything.
But yes - System Preferences > Network > Advanced > TCP/IP and then change the "Configure IPv6" to Off did the trick. Awesome. Thanks again!

Check Safari > Preferences > Extensions. Turn extensions off, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
I had the same problem and found the solution in another discussion. Safari 5.5.10 has a problem with IPv6. I turned it off in network preferences and I'm back up to speed.
Try resetting Safari. Most of the times, that fixes most issues. The second is extensions. I was just checking why my recent update to Safari was so slow in loading the pages. Found this thread and forgot to look under extensions. Sure enough, I had some extension I have never heard of running. Deleted it, turned off extensions, and restarted Safari. That was it, it is working fast like it did before. Thanks Carolyn Samit!
Which OS X is installed on your Mac.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The version is noted there.
Troubleshooting advice can depend on that information.
You can add that information to your Apple Support Communities profile. At the top of any ASC window click Your Stuff > Profile > Edit. You must be signed into to do this.
10.6 update 16
Hi Carolyn - I am also having the same issue with my safari 5.1.10 on my Mac OS X 10.6.8. I tried your suggestions in this discussion thread but nothing is working. Safari is taking a good 10 min to pull up google, yahoo or gmail and when logging into a web based work web address. But it will pull up amazon and other retail sites quickly. Any ideas on how I can fix this?
Turned extensions off, relaunched Safari - could not load any webpages. Restarted with same results.
You're welcome 🙂
I'm having the same issue with Mac OS X 10.6.8. Loads retail sites quickly, everything else takes forever. Help please!
Just try and do the steps that were described in the earlier posts. It should work, if not use another browser like Chrome or Firefox.
