iOS 7 'Software Update Failed'

So the iOS 7 update is out. I searched for the update manually on my iphone 5 and found it. I tried to update and right after it starts intializiing update, a pop-up comes up titled 'Software Update Failed'; An error occured downloading iOS 7.0. It gives me the option to close or go to settings which does nothing.

I tried finding the update on itunes on my PC but it does not show up. It only shows up on my iphone.

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

Thanks! Oh Apple why not just slowly roll it out across different countries or regions if doing it all at once is too much for the servers.

They tried that once, and people screamed that others got the update and they didn't. And actually, they DO stagger it if you wait until you get notification that the update is available. But people keep checking for update, which adds additional load to the servers.

So, I am having the exact same issue as the original poster did. Before I did the upgrade, i synched and attempted a manual synch with iCloud. Then I did the upgrade and had the exact experience the original poster did: ("..plugged my iPhone 4 into my computer to connect it to iTunes. It alerted me that I had an update to download (7.0.2). I did so, after restarting the device automatically, it failed to come back up. It is now stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" screen, the cable => iTunes icon. Connecting to iTunes doesnt even recgonize the device. It doesnt popup in iTunes at all for me to be able to select a restore option. Windows hears the device connect to the OS. ")

Once i realized i had no option but to do a restore, i checked out my iCloud folder to see if everything was in there.. and no, it wasn't. About 3 weeks of pics are missing and there are zero videos in there. I have a lot currently saved on my phone because my PC has been crashing frequently when I try to pull large files off the phone and onto my external HD... just haven't had time to figure that out and now I am scared to do a factory reset and lose all my pics and videos.

Can anyone advise how to finish this upgrade without losing everything on my phone? or at least how to unlock the phone and get it past the "Connect to iTunes" screen with the cable => iTunes icon? then I can at least limp through getting the stuff off hte phone before I put it back to factory..

Thanks in advance!
