So the iOS 7 update is out. I searched for the update manually on my iphone 5 and found it. I tried to update and right after it starts intializiing update, a pop-up comes up titled 'Software Update Failed'; An error occured downloading iOS 7.0. It gives me the option to close or go to settings which does nothing.
I tried finding the update on itunes on my PC but it does not show up. It only shows up on my iphone.

Seems like no one is upgrading it successfully. Apple has another epic fail on server ;3

My Macbook just indicated I need to install major updates to Mountain Lion and to iTunes. This can't be helping server speed for folks trying to get iOS7.
Non-jailbroken 5th generation Touch. Exactly the same prob. Thought it was 'aeroplane mode' causing an issue, so turned it off. Got a little further, and began downloading, but time went rapidly from '20 minutes remaining' to '15', '5', 'less than 1 minute' without the progress bar having budged a single nanometre. Then 'update failed'!
You'd have thought the largest tech company on Earth could manage a software download, wouldn't you...?!
It's been downloading for three minutes now (12th try or so), and it has less than a minute left...OTA\
Preparing update (iPod touch 5th generation). iTunes 11.1 still has the (102) error.

Same here - it looks like they haven't even opened up whatever mechanism iTunes connects to.
why apple doesn't seem to have a mirror server or something? at least it can seperates the number of people from upgrading iOS from a server...
It will continue to say that...have to have iTunes 11.1 to update to iOS 7. Unfortunately, the update is still down.
It's like a huge tease !!! It's starts to download and then BAM !!! Failed :(
Hopefully this is all resolved soon!

Part of the problem is releasing it worldwide simultaneously. What they need is servers the major timezones (i.e. those with highest density of iPhone users) and then perform a "follow the sun" rollout.

They are not the "largest" tech company by any stretch of the imagination; just one of the more profitable ones. In terms of global infrastructure, Apple are puny.
After a few attempts it seems to be downloading on my 4s...
How long was the whole update? It's about 3/4 of the way there for me after 10 minutes (preparing update).
You should work for Apple, M0THR! That's the kind of thing I was talking about.
