MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
Ok guys I MAY have a solution. I'm in the middle of restoring my iPhone to 6.1.3 software. I luckily saved a copy of the 6.1.3 update to my desktop so, with my poor iPhone in recovery mode, I can option + click restore and it gives me a dropdown of which software I want to restore my phone to. I took a quick peek and couldn't find any downloads for the old software, but if this works, I'll look a little harder for anyone with the same problem as me. I think the problem was "having" (it was a beta) iOS 7 and my iTunes couldn't understand the new iPhone software and the new download at the same time. I'll let yas know if I make any progress... has anyone else had success?
Ahh! Uriel you're a miracle worker! Many thanks! ... if this works...
Thanks UrielUrroz. This probably wont help problems with 10.8.5 not downloading though will it.
The credit is for Eric Root, He posted the link. I just copy-pasted for you
🙂
Do you guys know if this is a limited download/how I can increase the speed? I'm downloading direct from the link and getting around 90kb/s max. I usually download at 2mb/s on this connection
Hi, this link it will take you to the 11.0.5 version. Perhaps anyone know where can I get the 11.1.0 version?
In my case it downloaded in less than 5 minutes.. never checked the speed.. sorry
It appears Apple’s download servers are ‘overwhelmed’ today. I couldn’t download the newest iTunes update or IOS 7 and there are a lot of discussions today about not being able to download. One poster said they had chatted with App Store support who confirmed the problem.
Re-downloading 11.0.5 and installing, and then updating to 11.1.0 via App Store did the trick... Thanks be to Mr. Eric Root!
Thank you.
I had the same problem as already posted. I was having that problem for about a week now and I would keep returning to the App Store to update iTunes, when I thought of it, with an error message each time. Now I do need the update to move to iOS 7. Your link and directly downloading the new version seemed to' work around' a fault in the internal 'update' facility.
This problem, for me, has predated the overload problem faced by Apple these last few days.
It is all 'sweet' and I will now attempt to update to iOS 7. Wish me luck.
I have updated my phone to iOS 7. The whole process took 15 minutes - I have cable. (And this is the day after iPhone 5s went on sale in Australia!). Maybe other people's problems with slow updating is due to doing it directly to the phone, because the iTunes update they were using was not 'clean' or the overloaded system problem has been resolved?
