iTunes Radio stops after one song

Just downloaded 11.1 and started a new radio station. I continued adding bands while Radio played two songs from the original band. The third song played from a different band and when it was done, so was iTunes. The station just stopped with the Play control available. I clicked it and got a Nissan commercial followed by the third song (that just played). I hit skip. iTunes stopped again. I quit iTunes and relaunched. Went back to the station, hit play and got that same third song. I let it play out and it stopped again. Can't seem to do anything else.

I have this issue as well. If I try and play my "Lorde Radio" station on either my iphone 5 or iMac it will only play 1 song "AWOLNATION" by Sail. It would play this song over and over but stop after each time. Now it will play nothing on this station. This happened on another Lorde station that was a featured station. I think it must be something to do with royalty fees Apple pays. Must cut off the station. Needs to be fixed if they plan to compete with Pandora in this market........😠

I don't see how the response from chasefrombham solved this problem?

Joining the thread (just in case by some miracle Apple actually cares what we think or the problems we find).

I updated (as requested) my iTunes to version 11.something on my Windows 8 PC and started playing the Radio default stations.

Everything seemed to go fine for a while, but then it started to hang while trying to go to the next song. The title changed but the "play bar" still showed the previous song tried to complete. Going to another station for as long as it takes to play the first note and returning to the original station appears to fix the problem...for about two songs.

This behavior (and the fact that these posts have continued for a month without response from Apple) are consistent with my view of Apple software and support...another reason not to put anything important on an Apple product. I think I'll stay with more professionally developed and managed products...including replacing my mobile devices as quickly as I can and moving to Pandora for music radio (even if I have to pay for it...the trivial fee is worth the elimination of frustration).

I, too, am having an issue with iTunes radio. I have but 2 artists in my list. I was listening to the station after just creating it. 8 songs later, it stops. I click play, and it starts playing the last song it just played. I tried skipping to the next song, and it stopped. I'm really not doing anything fancy or elaborate with the artists...just two with the station set to Discovery. Help, Apple!

I am experiencing on occasion all of the issues described in this thread. I can even add one... garbled play after awhile...

Stopping and restarting may play for a few songs but then an issue crops up. Usually the stream continues to play but no sound...

I'm sure Apple will get it sooner or later, but I too am heading back to Pandora for the time being...

Also having this issue. It doesn't happen with all radios, just certain ones. For instance, the one that's very consistent to the point where I'm giving up is Hammock (band) radio. It'll play a song or two then just stop. The display shows like I'd never started playing anything at all (just standard blank interface). Previously and sometimes this still happens with other radios, I'll get that situation where the progress bar is stripped and just stuck (music never loads). But, specific to this problem and that Hammock radio, it just stops.

My suspicion is it's trying to load an ad but because Apple's ads for radio are so sparse (other radio stations will repeat the same ad over and over), I suspect it's running into some error where there are no ad results and it just stops instead of continuing on. Typical Apple software engineering in my experience...no bulletproofing, just expect things to always work one way and when it doesn't work out that way, crash, fail, stop, do something that just doesn't preserve the user experience. So counter to the overal design philosophy it's just weird to me.

Just a theory anyway...it might explain why the more "popular" radios (for instance when I pick a genre instead) work just fine, ads and all.

I've been struggling with this same problem. Is anyone using the OpenDNS DNS servers? I switched my network settings back to my default Uverse DNS server and it works fine now. Maybe just a coincidence.

edit: nevermind. it stopped again.

the DNS server doesn't matter (at least not for me) itunes radio stops on my AT&T iPhone when i'm not on WiFi as well.

The problem *is* with iTunes radio on their end somewhere.. Mac/PC/iOS it doesn't matter, they all have this problem.

Why would I limit the artists on the radio station? That's silly. I'm trying to figure out how to just download songs and make playlists on iOS. It's also a pain. I'm assuming one is able to download and make playlists on an iPhone but if not.. /sigh. I have this match thing enabled on my phone so I won't get ads on the iRadio and it seems to make adding music to my phone a lot harder.

Worst case scenario I sell this phone and get an android again.

POSSIBLE WORKAROUND!!!???

iTunes Radio plays 1-3 songs, then, no audio... Still shows it is playing, but no audio... Restarting, Skipping, nothing helped. I had tried everything... I had Time Warner come out and replace our cable modem, replaced our Apple Airport Router/Time Capsule with a new one (now I have 2), reconfigured our WIFI.... hardwired with GB ethernet.... nothing helped... I know this seems elaborate just for iTunes Radio, but I had some other issues with AirPlay and Apple TV & Netflix and Hulu that I was trying to address also.... Still however while all this helped with those other issues, iTunes Radio still playing without audio after 1-3 songs...

Until this!!! After seeing this post I decided just to try different DNS servers... I switched DNS from Time Warner, then to Google, then to Level3... 209.244.0.3, 209.244.0.4

Level3 DNS seems to have done the trick for me... Been listening to iTunes Radio for 2 Days non-stop without hiccup... thus far . And now I think I might like iTunes Radio as much as Pandora Especially in that my Stations Sync to all my Apple AirPlay enabled devices.... 😎

I look forward to hearing back if others of you are successful or not with this possible solution? Hope this helps.

Here also is a list of DNS servers for anyone wanting to experiment and report on iTunes Radio compatibility with others...

I'm pretty sure it's not the DNS entry. Radio works fine on my MBP but not on my Mac Pro and both are set to use the default Uverse DNS. It must be a setting or preference somewhere. MBP is using wifi, Mac Pro is ethernet. I left iTunes open on my Mac Pro and it started restreaming radio after pausing for about 20 minutes. Could be a throttling setting or a corrupt buffering destination.
