Me too.

I have poor broadband speed (living in Northern Scotlnd) so I don't use auto download; new episodes don't show up in 'Unplayed' unless I've downloaded them. I now have to trawl through a massive list and try to work out what to download.

Come on Appple, this is a small software tweek to put back the previous functionality of 'List' view; get it sorted!

I didn't click the cloud option and they all showed up with the cloud thing anyway. The podcasts which disappeared originally came back. The problem I'm having is that when you go to play any of the unplayed podcasts that weren't downloaded tonight, it gives you the circle with the exclaimation point in it saying that the original file cannot be found. It looks like only the shell/title is there - no file - no podcast. Seriously, ***?!?!?!?!

I'm in the same boat here too. I've suddenly got all the old podcasts for the shows I'm subscribbed to. Not really happy because some are weekly shows that go back to 2005!

I've also had a huge number of pocasts deleted. And some of those files deleted were not podcasts as such, but video lessons that use the podcast RSS and iTunes to download and organise. And I paid for them too! And they don't show up in the file system or the trash! I'm just lucky that I did copy them to USB and DVD.

I never saw any option, but went into went into preferences for the iPhone and turned of auto-synch which apparantly tells iTunes to delete all the DL poscasts. I guess there is NO MORE MANUAL iPhone management.

Re-adding the Library is not an option b/c the files are completely deleted from the computer. Also, I just discoverd that all my phone records are fubar. I have deleted messages back on the iPhone and all of my texts to myself are deleted! Serves me right for texting myself instead of taking the time to open the notepad instead.

I had a lot of important stuff in there: part #s, phone #s, directions. All of it gone.

I really feel like doing something drastic and self-destructive, but I won't. It's just SO despairing.

This update has been screwed up royally. This morning I had to recommend to two co-workers that they stay as far away from Apple's environment as possible. They'd heard that Apple had a reputation for making things easy to use and I had to explain that if that was ever true the reputation got trashed many years ago.

Can anyone recommend a replacement podcast management application for Windows? I've got no faith that this is going to become magically usable again.

I can't believe they're continuing to screw up podcasts - the last major update (iOS6, and whatever iTunes version came with it) made it very difficult to continue to deal with playlists of podcast episodes and mixed playlists of podcasts and music - these are my primary mode of listening. I queue up a rolling playlist of podcast episodes (multiple independent podcasts, sorted in the order I wish to listen, and often with some songs I or new albums I want to listen to in-between)... that list is then my on-going play order for my hours of commuting every day.

Having to browse through all the old episodes without being able to delete them from the iTunes podcast list view as before is clearly horseshit. I haven't yet figured out how screwed up I'll be as I update my devices.

I'm all for changes and new ways of doing things, as long as you leave a clear, easy way to continue doing exactly what you've done before in terms of BASIC FUNCTIONS LIKE PLAYLISTS OF STUFF YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO. Dorks.

Dear Apple,

In your latest iTunes 11.1, you appear to be trying something different regarding old podcast episodes and how they are displayed. I prefer the previous way. Option-click to expand a podcast and old episodes still available in the feed would be listed. Now the old episodes are always listed. Typically that makes for a mighty long list and I would rather not have to scroll through it to find the one episode I'm looking for. You have an excellent record of listening to your customers. So how about adding the ability to hide or remove from a podcast those episodes available for download. Thank you for your kind attention.

I'm not at my computer now, but maybe what happened in iTunes 7 is that it asked to sync across platforms and we said yes. Then we had 'keep all podcasts' on our iPhones. This might have added them to iTunes. Try deselecting sync across platforms, deselect keep all podcasts on iPhone, resync with iTunes 7, then see if they are gone. Just a guess.
