Good Afternoon all,
I hope this works for others. (11.2.2.3) Download the podcast(s) in question then highlight the ones to be deleted. Then go to the edit menu and delete from there. this is the only way so far i have found to DELETE the podcasts. one last step if like me you set up your podcasts in playlists because you don't want the stupid podcast app.... go the the playlist with you podcast and delete the episodes with the cloud by them. Kind of a pain in the you know what but it seems to be effective. One last hint DON'T subscribe to podcasts update them manually. I really hope this was helpful BEST of LUCK!!
OK. I think I found the way to DELETE the podcast. Make sure you are in "My Pocasts" view in Podcasts. Then simply hit delete key after selecting which podcast you want to delete. It deletes from Library and all the associated files.
This seems to be the only place I can share my helpful advice, but I'm not sure if it's spot on the topic. I was having smart playlist problems because I couldn't delete podcasts without the cloud version showing up in the playlist. I searched the Net and found plenty of complaints and no solutions. But - I HAVE THE SMART PLAYLIST SOLUTION! :-) Just add the condition that the "location" "is" "on this computer".
I can no longer find the places where the poor souls found no solution to their ever-lengthening playlists. If you read of people with the same challenge, please post this solution for them. (It doesn't clear the podcast library list, put it does make the smart playlist nice and clean.)
Thanks Bruzote!
Your solution works for me. I have been using a Smart Playlist to cull my podcasts from iTunes for years. If I got bored of a podcast I would delete it from iTunes and it would be gone. But lately even if I deleted it from iTunes, and even searched the iTunes folder to make sure it was gone, it would still show up again in the Smart Playlist. I know that on my phone and iPad I can no longer use my podcast Smart Playlist (I have to use my old iPods to use that Playlist) and instead use the Podcast App. So I could see that that app was downloading my podcasts from iCloud. But I didn't know that iTunes was now doing the same. And if it was, I thought I would stop downloading it after I deleted it.
Anyway, after adding the 'location" "is" "computer" to my podcast Smart Playlist, it is now updating it with podcasts only from my computer. It is, however, really lame that when I delete the podcast, it will not go away.
This solved my problem. Thanks!
In iTunes on Mac hold option key while hitting backspace delete key. That has worked for me.
