iTunes 11.1 podcast section wont let me remove old episodes list

Are you sure you don't have the "Old Episodes" button selected at the top? I am not having this problem, and it is working as expected. When you click the old episodes button, it shows everything, and acks like you describe. But when you click "Done" at the top right, then it goes back to normal.

I've learned in the past that Apple doesn't look at the posts in the support community.

Report it from the Help, Provide iTunes Feedback item on the Help menu.

I've got the problem too, the more people that report the problem, the more likely it is to get a high priority in the queue of things to fix.

Stuart, the "Old Episodes" button appears when "My Podcasts" is selected in the banner across the top of the content. But when "List" is selected, there is no "Old Episodes" button. It seems like the entire problem here is that an "Old Episodes" button should also be present when "List" is selected.

Exactly. That menu item should switch between Show Old Episodes and Hide Old Episodes, at least. (And it would also be nice to have a more visible "Old Episodes" button as in the other views.)

Ah, I see what you are saying now. I haven't used the List mode a while.

I wonder if it has something to do with the type of podcast on the back-end or something. Looking at mine, some are doing it, some are not.

I think it's up to each podcast how many old episodes it keeps around. This was true before; when you first subscribed to a podcast in iTunes you might see a bunch of old episodes for downloading, or you might see a few, or none.

I found a fix. For the ones that I had set to "keep all episodes" they showed everything. For the ones that had "Keep Most Recent Episode" or "last 2" or whatever, what was shown was what I had selected. So, it looks like it is just a setting tweak to keep things organized how you like it. If you set it to keep only "unplayed" that will probaby get most people to what they expect.

So, to me, this is a good thing. They made it better. They just didn't tell us how to use it.

I don't know what to tell you. I had the same issue. I modified my episode retention policy. I hit refresh, and the issue was resolved. It doesn't let me manually delete things, but it only shows up to whatever my retention policy was.

Hmm, I'm not seeing what Stuart is seeing. In List view, if I click "Settings..." at the bottom left, then switch from "All" to "All Unplayed" or to "Last 3" (those are the two I tried), then confirm and dismiss the Settings dialog, nothing is (apparently) updated in the list. If I then click Refresh, the spinny progress indicator appears for a moment by each podcast name, but nothing else (apparently) changes. I say (apparently) because I can't see the whole list at once so maybe something is changing in the parts of the list that I'm not scrolled to. But in any case, afterwards the big list of "downloadable from the cloud" old episodes is still present.

Stuart, are your steps somehow different than what I described here?

I am having the same issue. I can't find a work around either. I even looked to see if there is a way through the iTunes store. No luck.

Itunes version 11.1.0.126, Windows 7 64-Bit.

Best thing for me is to invert the release date so the latest podcasts show from the top down. Is there anyway to go back to the previous Itunes version without screwing everything up?
