iTunes 11.1 podcast section wont let me remove old episodes list

I just upgraded to iTunes 11.1 and noticed the Podcast section changed, I had to resubscribed to all the podcast I listen to and then I noticed, I am unable to delete the listing of the old episodes, Once you subscribe, It shows not only the episodes currently downloaded, But a listing of all the old episodes too. I want to be able to remove the listings for the old episodes so that only the downloaded ones are showing, I used to be able to do that with iTunes 11.0, But now they changed it where you can no longer delete them from showing.

I have a possible solution but it is not a good one.

As of the update to itunes 11.1 I now have 1000 old podcasts in the list view. The delete button will not work like before when I clicked + shift then delete to trash x amoount of old podcasts.

Now, the lousy fix so far is to download the podcasts and then I can delete them from list view. In "My podcast view" only the downloaded podcasts show...but like you, I prefer the List view and itunes 11.1

Bottom line is that in 24 hours is has become user unfriendly.

Seems that it immediately deletes a podcast after you've finished listening to it, which is something it also didn't do before, but would delete (based on your settings) when you refreshed the list to see if there was anything new to download. Another annoying new behaviour is that it starts playing another podcast right away when the last one finishes playing. I don't know about you, but I kind of like that little lull of silence before I choose what, or even IF, I want to listen to next.

Of course to top it all off, when I made this discovery of the magically vanishing played podcast file by going back to relisten to something at the end of my now "cloud stored" podcast, and it started streaming audio to my computer, that was enough to interfere with my iOS7 download for my iPad and guess who just wasted an hour of downloading! You know I just had that measily 36mb mp3 file on my computer's hard drive seconds ago, but I guess making me redownload it really was the better idea. CLOUDS FOR EVERYBODY!

**** it Apple, I know you had "think different" as a slogan over a decade ago, but sometimes different is bad and annoying as ****. If it ain't broke, don't mess with it.

That's exactly what it is. There are posts by people who kept gigabytes worth of podcast archives, and now iTunes deletes them ASAP once they are marked as played by the software only to oh so helpfully offer them back up to us from the magical wonderful cloud! So nice of Apple to ram this cloud thing down our throats. I don't have an ISP that does bandwidth metering and capping and limiting, but if I did, I'd be pretty annoyed right now.

The NSA pointed out that Apple's customers are now the "sheep" from the 1984 commercial.

I like to keep archives of certain podcasts and delete others as they go. At the moment, I'm walking away from Apple's podcast application altogether. Does anyone have suggestions for podcast management applications that are straightforward, driven from a PC, interface with the Iphone and don't pull these boneheaded stunts?

Linsay, even if you unsubscribe to the podcast you cannot delete undownloaded (old) episodes.

I believe this is a financial gambit by Apple!

1. users without warenty's who call Apple will get charged a fee for Apple's bottom line.

2. I believe podcast providers are charged a small fee for each time an episode is downloaded...so make the user download every episode to increase revenue!

This is absolutely horrific. I use the "List" display for podcasts and now find the episodes I've long ago downloaded and listened to - and deleted - are now appearing with no delete function to remove their listing. Apple needs to FIX this.

Is iTunes deleting podcasts after they've been played? I have my settings at "All" for Episodes to Keep, so the ones which I have downloaded are still on my computer as actual files after playing them. I'm terrified that older episodes I've kept archived may be deleted after being played, if what I'm reading is happening elsewhere.
