iOS 7 Calendar List View Gone?

Just updated to iOS 7 and it looks like List View in Calendar is gone? AAACCCK! With multiple shared calendars enabled (my wife's, kids school events etc.) I'm finding it very hard to see what my day(s) look like without scrolling like crazy through graphical representations of events. I'm accustomed to just viewing the list and scanning by color of events (for example my work calendar is green).

Am I missing a setting somewhere, or is this a casualty of the redesign? I'm hoping the former, but if it's the latter I'm about to cry!

I HATE the new calendar!! Finding a time to schedule a new meeting used to be easy - just tap through the days on the month calendar, check the list below, then add a meeting. Finding a meeting was just as easy. Now I am forced to use what was the daily view, and have to scroll through the entire day to check for a time. If I wanted to use the daily view I would have! Don't force me to do it because you want to add transitions!

Tempo, Fantastical and Week Cal all have a month view that functions like the month view on the iOS 6 calendar app. They also offer lots more features than the built in calendar on either version.

No one is arguing that there aren't a bajillion better calendar apps. The problem I was trying to solve was how to get a useful list on my lockscreen - NO CLICKING NEEDED to see what was coming up in my day. Just glance at phone, and be reminded. The system calendar is what is (at least vaguely) associated with the lockscreen/Notification Center.

At some point in the history of User Experience Development, LESS ACTIONS TO GET TO WHAT YOU NEEDED was important... I am sure there are plenty of users out there who really really want to be reminded of thier stocks at a glance. Or the weather FOR THAT DAY (because glancing out the WINDOW would be awful). Likewise, it should not be an effort to see your upcoming events.

There was a time when Apple would research how people were adding to thier software and include those functions in updates (that's how we got screensavers, the dashboard, etc.), but is no one from Apple looking to see what jailbreakers are going through SUCH HASSLE to jailbreak thier phones to be able to DO?? Change icons. Use the lockscreen. Come on, Apple.

I have come to the conclusion that the theme of IOS 7 is more touching and swiping to get to the information you need and want. Examples include the list view and creating events from list view, the tiny little letters along side the contact list so you have touch the screen a few more times before your IOS 7 recognizes you want your contacts under the letter 'D', and hiding the timestamps to your text messages - now swipe the entire text conversation to see the hidden timestamps. All this unnecessary over designing and never giving the user an opportunity to customize their experience to make iPhone more efficient and enjoyable. It is obvious they didn't do their research and yet they seem to think they have with IOS 7. What a disappointment.

Look, the best thing you can do is go to apple.com/feedback and submit your opinions there.

It's very weird, but Apple supposedly does NOT read these forums. You would think they would. Why make users go through the extra step of submitting feedback through the website, when you can just read the forums and get that feedback directly? Makes no sense right? Well maybe they do read these forums, but people will tell you that they don't read them. Hard to comprehend, I know, but... my point is, submit your post to apple.com/feedback.

The only real reason to ever post on this particular forum, honestly, is if you have a question that there might actually be an easy answer to, but you're outside of AppleCare and therefore you cannot just call Apple themselves. Or perhaps you called them and they did not answer your question.

Beyond that, posting tons of complaints here is really pointless, as far as I understand it. However the more people submit feedback at apple.com/feedback or via the bug reporting system (available if you're a developer) then Apple will hear you.

Agreed (posting here isn't necessarily heard by Apple). However posting to "feedback" doesn't get any movement, either. I've already sent my thoughts to "feedback", as well. I was just hoping for SOME additional thoughts HERE. Since all of US actually CARE about what is written here (as opposed to the black hole of "feedback"). Plus, you can always point your friends who work at Apple to this discussion....

I do appreciate the few suggestions and the general commisseration.

I am not alone!

In principal I agree with you, but I think there is some advantage to having different users discuss their problems and experiences here, especially those concerning a new release like 7.0. It's hard for one person to checkout all the new features and changes, and as people post their specific complaints here it helps others know what to look for in making their own anaylsis of the release.

For example, while many complaints about the calendar app were focused on how the day, week and months were being displayed, I for one had not considered the negative effects the changes had on other features. Lock screen messages, reminders and other details that may represent more sophisticated uses of the app need to be considered as well, and discussions of what no longer works correctly can be educational. It also helps argue against just switching to any other calendar app once all the capabilities of Apple's app are realized. The more that all the users know about what's right and what's wrong may help provide more pressure to get them fixed.

So yes, report the problems to Apple officially, but don't stop discussing them here.
