IOS 7 wallpaper resizing will not shrink photo to fit screen...

After update, wallpaper stretchs larger than image. Unable to resize smaller to fit screen. My photo only measures 24k @ 261x231 and is HUGE; bigger than the screen can accommodatem (shrink). Cannot resize smaller to fit screen. Any ideas/suggestions? I have tried resizing my photo (smaller crop in size and dimensions) and photos render too large for screen. Cannot resize smaller to fit. I know I am repeating myself. Just to be clear. Am I doing something incorrectly in IOS 7? Any ideas/suggestions or similar problems solving input would be appreciated.

No true Apple user cares about work arounds. We are talking here about errors in Apple programming that has been there simce the release of iOS 7.0, years ago.

This is about the disconnect at Apple with their own programming.

You bet! Wavymitch. Enjoy every minute of it of my Nexus 5 wallpaper. But this is not about Apple vs Android since we all here, I suppose, own a I-device or 2. I say, it is about Apple's attitude in responding to complaints. wavyitch, maybe, you are an Apple engineer that don't appreciate any complaint or are you just one of those happy go lucky guy with easily satisfied personality? I dunno. For now, I won't be spending no money on apps, on iTunes or movies until Apple makes a stance on it. People see my iPad Air always ask me how I like it. You bet I will share my displeased experience with them and show them what I meant on my iPad Air until such day....

It is hard to read this inflamed back-and-forth and grasp that this technically trivial but very pleasant feature USED TO WORK SEEMLESSLY! As noted earlier, forget Android, this is stuff that worked on Win 95.

Apple folks broke it. Why?

Do they even read these posts?

What is their excuse for leaving the matter festering for 7 months?

I challenge anyone from APPL to come on here, identify themselves by name, and explain this matter as though they were on the carpet in front of S. Jobs.

In iOS 7.0.x, you just needed the pixel dimensions of your device + 200 pixels/side, and you had perfect parallax wallpaper. (This resulted in 1040x1536 for iPhone 5/5C/5S, and 2448x2448 for Retina iPads.) Now in 7.1 these images still get needlessly zoomed when "Perspective Zoom" is turned on. If I turn the Zoom off and keep "Reduce Motion" turned off, the Parallax effect (which I like) is all but gone.

So my question is: in 7.1, how do I keep the Parallax effect but lose the Perspective Zoom? Is this impossible at present - other than to use the stock wallpaper images?

I was able to find away to shrink pictures to use for my background. I got the instasize app, picked the picture I wanted and it makes it smaller. You have to zoom out even more to make the picture smaller. Press the share button and add it to your album. Close the app and enter your pictures. Select the picture to make your screen and then you will be able to adjust the size to whatever you want. The only problem is you may end up with a white border, but at least you'll have the background you want. Hope this helps

I tried using an app called Wallax and it almost worked. The app basically takes your photo, places it on square background and resizes the whole thing. This probably worked prior to the last fix (it's exactly what I was doing with Photoshop Touch) but not now. After fiddling around in PS Touch for a while I discovered that creating a 2448 x 2448 background and then adding the photo you want it will then show a screen allowing you to move the picture if needed. The only time I moved/resized the second layer was if the photo desired was of lower resolution. Works like a charm.

Apple really needs to change this... I like using the photos I take as my background and I am extremely disappointed that I can not and that this has not been changed! For those of you who want photos that fit you can use an app called zedge if you just want wallpapers that fit but are not your own. Its a wallpaper app that apparently sizes the photo properly... only place I can find useable photos since I can't use my own.

My girlfriend and I where having the same issue. And she figured out the best solution I've heard of so far.

From Within Camera Roll

1. SELECT PICTURE SO THAT IT GOES TO FULL SCREEN

2.PINCH TO ZOOM TO THE SIZE YOU WANT THE WALLPAPER TO BE

3.HIT SHARE BUTTON TO ADD AS WALLPAPER

4.SCALE PHOTO ONCE MORE TO YOUR LIKING

PRESTO!!!

This worked for us anyway!! Hope I could help

^ Klobbs, that doesn't work.

It frustrates me that this has been an issue for nearly a year with no fix from apple. I don't want to install an extra app to do something that should be standard.

Edit: abarm316, I tried that app out but don't like the result. The background is white. I want black.

I was looking at my old iphone4 with ios 6 or whatever - and I want to be able to do the screen lock wall paper like that. Black background, and the photo not going the full width of the screen.

ALTHOUGH THIS IS MY FIRST POST, I HAVE DONE LOTS OF READING AND RESEARCH (OTHER BLOGS AND FORUMS) FOR A RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM SINCE IOS7 WAS INTRODUCED LAST YEAR. THIS THREAD IS NOW 59 PAGES LONG AND (UNPAID) USERS HAVE PROVIDED LOTS OF SUGGESTIONS (NONE THAT WORK) WHILE (WELL-PAID) "APPLE" EMPLOYEES CONTINUE TO DISREGARD THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH WE ARE UP TO VERSION 7.3 AND STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. WHENEVER AN UPDATE OCCURS, I HAVE WAITED A FEW WEEKS TO READ UP ON USERS NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES, BUT THIS ONE APPEARS TO BE THE MOST ANNOYING! APPLE....HELLOoooooooo.....
