IOS 7 wallpaper resizing will not shrink photo to fit screen...

After update, wallpaper stretchs larger than image. Unable to resize smaller to fit screen. My photo only measures 24k @ 261x231 and is HUGE; bigger than the screen can accommodatem (shrink). Cannot resize smaller to fit screen. Any ideas/suggestions? I have tried resizing my photo (smaller crop in size and dimensions) and photos render too large for screen. Cannot resize smaller to fit. I know I am repeating myself. Just to be clear. Am I doing something incorrectly in IOS 7? Any ideas/suggestions or similar problems solving input would be appreciated.

No true Apple user cares about work arounds. We are talking here about errors in Apple programming that has been there simce the release of iOS 7.0, years ago.

This is about the disconnect at Apple with their own programming.

Foldingsoup 101 I am in complete agreement with you. My new Galaxy S5 is coming soon - no iPhone for me! Also - my next tablet will be a Galaxy. I am hoping to get rid of both my iPad and my macbook pro (new this year). Why should I have to deal with this stuff all the time, I feel like it's only going to get worse. If I switch back to android and PC - everything will work! Just like apple products USED to! You are absoloutely correct in all of your statements. I used to LOVE my iPods (I have three) iPad and macbook and was a walking advertisement using those products in my job, as I teach over 600 students in my elementary school. Now I just want to get rid of them! Imagine how many little consumers I can influence teaching elementary school music with android and PC based products now instead of apple.....maybe apple SHOULD care!

The only solution I've found to fix this is to take the picture to my pc open it in Microsoft paint, expand the borders to a very large area, move the picture to the upper middle part of this large space but with a good amount of space remaining at the top so that the picture is surrounded in all areas by white space save it as a png, send this picture to myself via email , save it to my ipad and then set this as my wallpaper so I can zoom in to my original picture. this seems to work for me though its curious that this issue is nearly a year old without an official solution from apple.

what a gong show!!

Been try to fit a photo to my iPhone 5s wallpaper and it is IMPOSSIBLE and very, very annoying.

I also would like to have the photo fit between the upper row of four icons and the lower row of four icons.

This is should be soooo simple and Apple once again continues to "Think Different"

Please, please, please send along any fixes and band-aids for Apple's very bad wallpaper issues

I know I'm a little late to the party here. But I figured out a way to set images, regardless of size, as your wallpaper AS LONG AS YOU CAN VIEW THE ENTIRE PICTURE (or portion you want to use) IN THE PHOTO GALLERY. Simply screenshot the photo (or portion of the photo you'd like to be your wallpaper) and use the screenshot. Hope this helps. If it's already been covered, sorry for the redundancy. Thanks!

Okay, here's what absolutely worked for me and my ipad and my wife's ipad 2. I downloaded a little free app from the App Store - instafix.

upper left corner select photo library and select picture from your gallery.

in bottom right corner select little gear wheel which is settings

Select change frame size, then iPad, iPhone 4 or 5 and then square.

in upper right tap box with arrow pointing up and then save photo.

it adds the changed picture to your photo gallery and you can then use normal procedure through settings - wallpaper to set it.

i Did have to do one pic a couple of times as it was quite tall and had that stretched oversize issue when ipad was in landscape position.

hope it helps

YEAH ! Finally ! All good so far with IOS 8. The wallpaper issue has been resolved and pictures are resizing properly to fit my iPad Mini Screen in landscape mode.

The chunky unattractive opaque task bar is still there which is a great pity because it takes up way too much real estate on the screen in landscape mode

I wish there was an option to turn off the opacity of the task bar and then my wallpapers could be properly displayed in all their glory

Anyway I am really happy about the wallpaper issue and hope it has been resolved for all Apple devices and not just the iPad Mini

It scarcely seems credible. Without fanfare, ios8 solved the wallpaper issue at a stroke; installed ios8.1 today and, whaddya know, it's worse than ever! Fortunately, I never did delete the one wallpaper fix app that worked for me...

Seriously, what are Apple playing at? We wait a year for a fix, and it lasts precisely one update before it is unceremoniously taken away from us. Having fixed the issue (at long last!), why immediately unfix it? Or was the fix an accident? Answers please!

I like the parallax just fine, and I accept that all 4 edges will get cropped as a result.

But why does iOS 8.1 always default to the far bottom-left of the photo, instead of the center?? I can try to eyeball it, but shouldn't it just center without me trying to guess?

Plus, the built-in wallpapers are square, and when I turn sideways (iPhone 6 Plus) they show extra content at the sides (and less at top/bottom), as they should, and so the image's scale remains the same. But when I use my OWN square photo, turning to landscape makes the photo zoom much larger, as though the imagery on the sides has been removed and can't be displayed.

I've been submitting feedback on this since iOS 7.0 was released. They haven't addressed it yet. This is a bug and I suspect Apple has done this to help App makers profit. They can't be this disconnected from the features on their own devices. Lock screen photos can't be sized to fit the screen any longer. I'm looking at a door of a Porsche Carerra instead of the entire car like I used to be able to do in iOS 6 on my lock screen. Also, if you set it while in landscape and then rotate to portrait, the photo doesn't adjust and is cropped again. Apple is loosing sight of the simple things, which made them successful. Tim Cook doesn't have what Steve Jobs had. Working for Compaq and IBM has done nothing for his attention to detail, creativity nor his recognition of the simple joys of using Apple mobile products. It is very annoying that this has gone on for so long with no correction.
