Anyone experiencing a slow App Store? For me it needs to load once, then crash, then reloads, slowly, then it works ok.
No. I'm not experiencing this on my iPad 2. Have you tried the standard troubleshooting tips offered in this thread? Try resetting your iPad and/or resetting all options. Often this cures a myriad of issues.
I have updated my Ipad2 to iOS7. The most annoying issues are:
-Ipad has become much slower in responding to finger touches. Sometimes i have to touch twice to do something.
-Ipad hangs in some situations for some seconds ( more than 10 seconds), especially in apps like Google+ and Facebook when i try to open a page inside the app.
-I know that the ipad2 has not much RAM, but the act of changing between two apps is worse than iOS 6.1.3.
-The battery drains much faster. Even when the ipad is pluged and i increas the brightness to maximum, the percentage of the battery goes down!! It is awsome!
- Going to the home page by doubble click on home button takes place with a delay.
- Appstore is still slow as it was in iOS6.
Suggest you backup your IPad, do a full restore then restore backup. Most of those issues will go away. It seems the upgrade over the top of IOS 6 causes much of that.
My biggest issues were with Safari. The full restore which includes the firmware, corrected all of that.
Restoring with the inclusion of your backup will take some time.
Happygermanguy, I experienced similar problems and more when I updated to ios7 on my iPad 2. It was getting to the point where it was almost unusable.
I am pleased to say, that I have finally resolved the issues I had by simply backing up everything on my iPad to my iTunes account, then doing a reset. Finally have a fully operational & usable iPad again :)
Yes. My safari keeps crashing repeatedly after update. Sounds like we cannot trust apples recommendations? Is there anyway to go back? Or is it a one way ticket to Hades? I regret getting this ipad and listening to apples recommendations.
No way to go back. Connect your IPad to ITunes. Back it up. Then Restore your IPad. This will wipe it clean, replace your IOS with newest firmware and a clean version of IOS 7.
Then "Restore from Backup". :which will take a while. Sounds drastic but will work fine after.
Good luck.
yes that should work.
i updated mine from 6.1.3 via OTA. it was not tolerable after. i did some resets, it got better. but still lagged. then i did an erase all. i didn'te restore from backup (had to re-download a lot of magazines!). it got a lot better. when 7.0.3 came, i decided (after TIME magazine's update, which deleted all the magazines i've re-downloaded after that erase all) to do a restore. i didn't, again, did a restore from backup (setup is not that long, and i have a BT keyboard). now it's smooth. even better i say than 6.1.3.
not ipad 2, but i did the same to my iphone 4. and boy, it was worth it. doing a recovery starting as a new device, it got a lot better. not as good as the iphone 5c/5s in the stores, but it is really really good.
I upgraded to ios7 on my ipad2 (Model MC773LL/A) and was very happy with it despite some minor quirks until the 7.0.2 update. Since then, I can't use the home button. It worked just fine and I was even able to make it work after a couple of resets, but as soon as I open the first app, it no longer works. Since the 7.0.3 update which I expected to fix the problem, I can't even get the home button to work after a reset. This iPad2 is pristine and had been cocooned in my Griffen rubberized case since the day it was unboxed. (yes, I took it out of the case since to make sure it wasn't the cause)
While I can use all the other tricks such as assisted touch or gestures, it just ticks me off that the home button doesn't work any longer. Since I am out of warranty, I don't want to waste my time waiting on line to get them to fix something they broke and being asked to pay for it. The button worked fine until the iOS7 upgrade and there is no reason why it shouldn't work today.
My iPad Mini (Model MD528LL/A) appears to be working just fine with iOS 7.0.2, though a bit slower than when it was 6.1.3. However, it seems that since 7.0.3 broke my iPad2 further, I am hesitant to even consider blowing up my iPad Mini as well. My iPhone 5 is working really well on iOS 7.0.3...thank goodness.
I agree with the many comments about the loss of Steve Jobs... Tim, you better get these thing straightened out or that iPhone 5 will be the last Apple product I purchase. Kwon Oh Yun and Risto Siilasmaa are looking pretty innovative these days!
Well said.
With my upgrading my IPad 2 to IOS 7, my sim card suddenly stopped working. No amount of restoring or resets will bring it back again. With the sim-card reader failure, I've
decided to swap it in at the Apple Store for a refurb for the following reason only:
With the swap, and the current prices of my IPad in the refurb store, it's clear that I'm only getting $210.00 credit for my otherwise perfect IPad 2 but this is the tipping point for me---in all likelihood the replacement refurb will still have IOS 6, it's originally sold system, still on it...
A No Brainer.
The only way I can get IOS 6 back.
If I am going to drop another $200 on one of these devices, I'll grab a Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire HD with Jellybean. Until then, since the iPad2 works fairly well (sans Home Button) I can only hope for a jailbreak and will stop upgrading my iPad2 from this point forward.
Thank you Wendyx6 and Yochanan 1. I did what you suggested. I made a backup and did reset the iPad to factory settings without deleting the data on iPad. Actually at the same time the iOS 7.03 was released and i performed an upgrade as well. After that my iPad 2 is working perfect and even better than before with iOS 6.x.
Thanks alot...

GOOD. DON't
I swapped mine out at the Apple Store for a new one since I had the sim card reader problem.
New IPad 2 had IOS 6 installed. Almost dreamlike to have '6' back with full functionality.
Yes, some bugs but updates coming soon.
