Outgoing Message Tone on IOS 7.. How to disable?

Since updating to IOS 7 I get a tone everytime I send a message, imessage or sms. I have been all over the settings and no where in IOS is there a place to turn off this tone or at least that I can find. Anyone have any ideas or are we going to have to live with this sound everytime we send a message?

Same!!

I just switched over to an iPhone and I've been reading about this problem in older releases like ios4 and 5

Did they have an option to turn it off in ios6?

When in iMessage I don't want any of those "woosh" type sounds for sent or received texts..

Setting "text tone" to "none" in settings will get rid of those sounds but it also turns off the sounds of received texts outside the imessage app

There needs to be a sound option for "sent sms" like they have for "sent mail"

Send feedback guys!!

Yes, but takes a little extra time and has some nice benefits.

Short answer: individual text tones only

Implementation: settings> sounds> text tone - under Alert Tones choose top entry - None. This also turns off the outgoing text message sent sound.

You may also want to temporarily turn off Vibrate on Ring

Go into Contacts and your equivalent of an Inner Circle group. (IOS 7 doesn't install Contacts by default. I couldn't find it on the App Store. Just still had it. You may have to use Phone>Contacts or FaceTime>Contacts or an app like ABContacts. Oddly Messages won't let you edit contacts.) For each contact entry you expect a text message from, edit it and you will be able to change the text tone sound to a custom choice (benefit: identify individual senders). Tap Done to close editing, and you'll see new entries in the contact for both the Text Tone and the default vibration. Change Text Tone back to the default sound and those entries will go away.

Benefit: choose a quiet sound, like Harp, for low priority texters so you'll only hear them if you're not busy or driving.

Contacts is a built in application. It can't be deleted. By default, it is in the folder with the compass, calculator, etc. It was called Utilities under iOS 6 but the name of the folder has changed and I don't remember what it's called (Extras?). A Spotlight search will reveal the Contacts app, though accessing it through the Phone app gets you to the same information.

This is really goofy. Why in the world would there not be an option for sent and received sounds in Messages?

Did the same person who designed Apple Maps also decide to "bundle" the sent and received sounds together?

Darren Hatch: thanks for the advice and the work around. Better than nothing but man it's a LOT of tinkering just to arrive at a simple result (make a sound for incoming messages, make no sound for outgoing messages).
