Albums view/listing in music app in iOS 7

Just updated to iOS7, and seriously what did you/Apple think with the new album (un)grouping of albums when you enter an artist in the Music app?

Do their developer have a music collection at all? I just can't believe albums aren't listed without the tracks as before. At least an option to have that view, but seriously that view should still be default.

And when we're on it, why don't they add a feature so you could add the currently playing song to a playlist?

The (limited) good news is that the Music App in iOS7 for the iPad Mini does not have the weird quirk of changing names of albums purchased from the iTMS back to the original names (if the user has changed them), which is what happens on the iPhone. So perhaps that suggests the issue is a bug not a feature. But we shall see. And on the other hand, the easy method of choosing to play an album, from iOS6, is also gone in iOS7 for iPad mini, as it is for the iPhone. So it's not a clear win with the iPad mini software.

I'll be watching this carefully in the next few updates.

In the meantime, I do recommend Picky as good alternative app which makes it easier to play albums. It's not perfect for me (since it doesn't fix the "changing the album names" problem back to the way it worked before). But I find myself using it 99% of the time to play music, with minimal frustration.

Good luck to all of us!

I have actually found a work around for this problem! To choose 'repeat album' you have to:

1. Tilt your screen to enter album art cover mode.

2. Find our album.

3. Choose album and go to 'Now Playing'.

4. Select 'Repeat Album'.

Done! Also, there's another way if you prefer it:

1. Pick your Artist normally and play one of their albums.

2. Go to 'Now Playing' and select the dropdown menu at the top-right corner of your screen. This will show the songs in the current listening album.

3. CHOOSE any song from the dropdown menu.

4. Go to 'Now Playing' and you should have the option to select 'Repeat Album'

Absolutely agree with you. The old version was much better. I HATE having to have the album art display. I select and play from playlists mostly and having that album art box there is totally wasteful of space! You should definitely be able to disable the album art and have simple playlists. No matter which view you select, you should be able to choose how to display the info - with or without the album art. AND it should work similarly to the OSX finder views - I should be able to see the list of playlists or albums or artists and then when I select one of those, I should be able to see what's within that list. Having to scroll through every song within an album in order to see the next album is crazy!

The Music app in IOS 7 is totally broken. If you have an artist with more than a few albums (and I have artists with 30 or more albums), good luck trying to find the album - you neeed to scroll throught ALL of them (imaginge you have 10 songs per album, you need to scroll through 300 or so songs to find your album). You cannot delete entire album from the iPhone now (and that was possible in ios 6), you need to delete all individua songs first.
The Artists screen does not have an alphabetical list on the right for quick selection, if you need to find an artist you need to either type in the Search box, or scroll again. If you have many artists in your phone (and you can have thousands now) - good luck too.

Displaying songs info on screen is miserable (as always)

Am beginning to think Apple won't fix any of this... but really hope they do.

When using the music app (why isn't called iPod anymore?) its like using a spreadsheet. It SO has the look and feel of a piece of Microsoft software from the 90s! Terrible... and I never thought I'd ever hear myself say that about something from Apple.

I have provided feedback on this several times. Also keep tweeting into the cybersphere to try and shame them into change!
