iOS 7: How to reduce screen motion

You can reduce screen motion in iOS 7. iOS 7 uses a parallax effect to create the perception of depth on your Home screen and elsewhere.

To reduce the effect, you can turn on Reduce Motion in Settings > General > Accessibility. When you turn on Reduce Motion, Home screen transitions will fade instead of zoom.

When the parallax effect is on, you may notice the following:

Wallpaper, icons, and alerts shift slightly as you move your phone.

When you set a wallpaper in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness, the photo or image will be slightly zoomed and can't be scaled to fit the screen.

If you zoom in, you will need to rescale your wallpaper to fit to the screen. You can't rescale certain photo formats, including landscape or square images.

To learn more about iOS 7, refer to the user manual.

When I switched to iOS 7 I could not longer use my favorite pictures as my wallpaper. I was very disapointed about that and decided to create a little app to fix my problem. I saw that this is a problem many users are running into, so I chose to make my little helper called Wallpaper Fix public.

Wallpaper Fix lets you freely resize, rotate and position your picture in order to use it as your custom iOS 7 wallpaper..

iOS 7 needs wallpapers to be of specific dimensions in order to work properly with the parallax effect, just position your picture the way you want it and Wallpaper fix does the rest automatically for you.

I found my own fix that worked for me using an iPad 3 with iOS 7 installed.

Sinply turn on the Reduced Motion setting in the Settings app.

When this is turned on when setting a wallpaper! you can use any photo any size from the Photos app and it will scale up and down using the two finger pinch to zoom ou or down and can reposition the image on screen anywhere you want.

I used a large, landscape style image and was able to two finger pinch to zoom the image down and use a single finger to push to image around to reposition it on the screen.

The plus to setting the Reduced Motion on iOS 7 is that my iPad responds faster as the parallax effect is disabled and any of the fancy zooming features changed to fast fade effects, instead.

I really like the way my iPad works, now.

It's much more responsive.
