Okay, are you guys ready for a temporary fix?
The issue is the photos your trying to apply as a wallpaper were not configured to the same resolution that IOS 7 works with. The fix that worked for me was to take a screenshot of the photo I wanted to set as my wallpaper, then use the screenshot to apply the wallpaper. Its the same photo, but has the new resolution that IOS 7 allows.
Hope this helps!
duplicated post.
It doesn't. I'm using photos with the exact dimensions of the ipad's screen, and even taking a screenshot of it, and then putting it as my background doesn't help, because when I go to set it, iOS still forces the zoom in on it. That's the issue, no matter the image, iOS is now always going to force that zoom in. I understand that the whole parallax thing now calls for perfectly square resolution backgrounds, but I don't care, I have it turned of an I, like many other people, just want to set my background to the exact scale it was before the update, which is impossible.
it's worked for me on my IPhone 5. Sorry it didn't work for you 😟
Yeah sorry, I don't want to seem like I'm mad at you or anything. It's just that the zoom in on iPads vs iPhones is WAY worse. That's the issue. I mean, just turning off reduce motion on my phone allows me to set the iPhone background without issue, but the zoom in on iPads is just too large.
The best solution i've seen for adjusting to the huge zoom in on the iPad wallpapers is adding a +20% border to an image on the same aspect ratio as the iPad screen, setting it in the wallpaper, and locking orientation switching because there'll be white borders on the sides in horizontal display. This is pretty ridiculous to be honest.
Did the temporary fix sort of work for me? Sort of. But it's still ugly. I used to have a really cute picture- that was taken by the same device being used!- of my son and dog as my lock screen wallpaper, but now I have a crappy image.
I'm not happy with the iOS 7, but I will live with it. In this case, however, it just doesn't work.
To fix this problem go to your settings> general> accessibility> reduce motion. Turn on reduce motion and you will be able to fit your full picture as your background. This will take away that "3Dish" affect, but if you want your full picture bak ground this is the way to do it.
I am also having this issue with my Iphone 5, tried using instasize as someone suggested, but it leaves a white border around the photo. Tried to turn of the parallax that I saw on another page and that didn't work either.. any other suggestions would be appreciated.
That doesn't work. Maybe it's a glitch or something, but on my iPad 2, when I go to reset my wallpaper with reduce motion on, it still forces that zoom in.
Yea it works on my 4s, hopefully apple with come out with a fix for everyone soon.
Yes, indeed, "Move and Scale" seems to have a mind of its own.
I can scale a certain picture to fit the screen nicely by pinching the image, but as soon as I let it go, it snaps back to its own scale.
Weird!
Me too and while I applaud others for coming up with potential temporary fixes, Apple really does need to address this. And, while they're at it, make the background for the bottom row of icons translucent or even invisible. Feels kinda "Windows 95" in it's current state.
I have an inkling that we Apple users will be missing Steve Jobs real badly, soon.. ! :-(
You can add me the list of frustrated people with the wallpaper scaling issue.
Same!
