IOS 7 - Change message bubble color?, IOS 7 - Change message bubble color?

I'm guessing we still can't change the message bubble colors? It was just annoying before. Now it is a necessity.

The vivid green/white on a white background just makes it hard to see/read for SMS messages...I can go as far as saying that it hurts my eyes. The blue and white are almost as bad for iMessages. I tried inverting the colors in the accessibility settings which helpped for the messaging and made everything else unsuable.

If I can't change the colors I will have to revert the OS (same colors but with black text and less vivid gradients) or change to a phone/OS that allows for better customization/ accessability options. This really *****...I have had a iPhone for a long time.

iPhone 5, iOS 7

I agree. The pale colours are too washed out for the green icons. I can barely read white on green text messages. Is there an option to select an adult colour palette?

I own a Nexus Device because I love to customize evrything in my homescreen. After getting tired of instability issues with Android (I had so much fun though coz its limitless in terms of design), I switched to iphone 5 3months ago. I appreciate the simplicity and overall performance because basically its reliable. THEN IOS 7 was announced and my impression about the design was, did only "one" person decided to go for this design? I mean, because its very impossible majority are going to like it basically because its too simple and even high school can do it.

I told myself that I will not update to ios 7 because of the design BUT i realize my apps are mostly now optimized for ios 7 and So updated last night.

1st reboot, it was laggy, stuttering and I HATE the design.

Basically not smooth in terms of animation.

Felt really cheap, below android.

Then I encountered your problem with the GREEN BUBBLE BOX in imsg

And text font is white so basically not pleasing to my eyes and worse is my

Girlfriend can't receive the message, no status if it was delivered or what

And i cannot see if she's typing or not...

All the lags, animation stutter and green imsg box were

All fixed after i TURNED OFF MY PHONE AND WAITED 10seconds then turned it ON.

Animation is now great because it's smooth just like the previous OS.

Bubble box now is BLUE which is better and can fully send the message with status.

Then I went to Accessability to make the text BOLD, then turned ON REDUCE MOTION AND INCREASE CONTRAST

THEN MADE THE TEXT more little. Rebooted and voila, eveything is looking good.

With the smooth animation back and lighter tone design

And flat simple bubble box with the same accuracy of keyboard, i am now

Good with IOS 7. Honestly, I am now liking ios 7 LoL.

It just flies right now...lol

Yes, this new color scheme does really suck. Why would Apple limit its users to only being able to pick one color scheme (as far as the software side of the phone), but give people several choices on the outside color of their phone. Makes no sense. Who cares about what color the outside of the phone is, well, unless you are a guy, probably would not want HOT PINK. But to disable all functions that would allow a user to completely customize their phones theme is crazy.

I love my apple products, however, this one thing is making me upset. I would much rather the old home screen setup versus the new one. THere are some nice new features, however I do not feel the new features completely out weigh the negative color scheme.

Hope they put a way to chnage color scheme in the first update....I know they won't, but one can dream!

I literally have NEVER used the support wall and feel compelled to do so after my iOS7 "upgrade." The design of this is so horribly offensive (and I am a graphic designer) that I probably am going to switch phones after a staggering lifetime of using Apple Products. I am also desperately trying to figure out a way to change the garish message bubble colors because I can't even look at it or read it without getting a headache and I use text messaging quite a lot. Apple, solve this problem now or I am gone as a user. I am considering dumping my Apple stock as a result of iOS7 because for the first time I am believing the downhill rumors. This is NOT the phone I purchased, nor would I ever have purchased it in the first place. An absolute betrayal on the part of a company I have spent a lifetime loving.

At least one person with red/green color blindness has stated they find it perfectly acceptable to read. Note that there are different types of color blindness. Red/Green is only one.

Absolutely unacceptable. Changing color schemes has to be one of the easiest fixes of all time for a programmer. Fact is, Apple re-built their entire company based on customers being allowed to choose a color that fit their personalities...see iMac. Surely they will make an update to fix this bs. But they will need to hear a lot of folks complaining about it first.

OK ....to be more clear, I meant Red/Green Color blind in relationship to the day glow green with white text that particular post. Though I would contend that Blue-Yellow color blindness which is also common could be having similar problems with the iMessages and the yellow "Notes" buttons.

The point is that there is no "accessibility feature" to compensate for those having issues seeing the new color scheme. Really all it requires is alternate color scheme availability. Not even a "look like iOS6" just alternates for text color/ other colors that would not depart from the Apple "Look".

Personally, after a week I am still not able to use the new iOS 7 on my iPad for more then about 1/2 an hour, even with making changes to the accessability options and dropping the brightness down to 1/4 - 1/2. It's rather annoying since I used to use it for most of my task tracking and calendering most of the day. I carried it just about everywhere. I have had go back to my laptop for most of my tasks. I'm giving Apple to the next iOS upgrade, usually about a month after the first one, then I will have to move to a new platform.

I was lucky to be able to roll back my iPhone before the lock down so I am OK there for the time being. My contract is up in a month so I will be able to move there too if required.

Meg St._Clair - I think you and some of the other forum supports miss the fact that this is more then just a "knee jerk reaction" by some of the users. It is a really a very REAL inability to use a $600 or more device purchased (in some cases very recently) because of it's usability in the first place. Regardless of how spiffy iOS 7 is, if I can't read the screen the device has become a paperweight. For me there is no "getting used to it" and it would not be an option to roll back (if if Apple allowed it) and stay on antiquated software making the very expensive less then a year old device useless.

Last year, I was going to leave Apple but chose to stay because I liked the size of the phone and I liked the stability of the iPad even though they feel short of some items offered else where that I would have liked. This year, I may not have a choice.

And one more comment I have talked to several red/green color blind users that have had difficulties including now my brother. I suppose like anything else it would be dependent on the person and thier degree of color blindness to the colors. There are several degrees....lumping people together is like lumping together apples and oranges and just calling them apples.

Where did I lump everyone in together? You wondered how people who were color blind were doing with the change. I reported one person's experience. I then went on to point out there is more than one type of color blindness. Just because my data point doesn't fit in to your hypothesis doesn't make it any less valid than yours.

Best of luck.

Best of luck.

I think you missed the point from the post before this.

Just like I said in the other thread...I'm outta here. I have turned off all notifications...the forum is less then constuctive for those with true issues they need resolved. THough for this I'm betting Calling apple support will be no help.

I've left feedback with Apple. Not figuring it will help much...a shame really.

No, I've missed none of your points.

Best of luck.

They should really consider adding a few base icon theme changes like monochrome, some shade of techy blue and classic or something custom. A color chooser wouldn't be all that hard. I wouldn't go out and buy key lime green nike shoes with neon blue laces.

It was very hard on the eyes at night, but I'm also a very anti bright/white type. I equate staring at monitors to looking directly at a 40-60w light bulb for hours per day. Mostly because I stare at monitors for a living. Even if I slammed the brightness down to its lowest setting, it was still to bright.

I was able to downgrade after 12 hours. But it was coupled with poor battery performance, slow/sluggish performance on my iPad 3, and just the fact I really did not mesh with this new look and feel. Glad to see others had similar issues. Hopefully a solution presents itself.
