IOS 7 - Change message bubble color?, IOS 7 - Change message bubble color?

I'm guessing we still can't change the message bubble colors? It was just annoying before. Now it is a necessity.

The vivid green/white on a white background just makes it hard to see/read for SMS messages...I can go as far as saying that it hurts my eyes. The blue and white are almost as bad for iMessages. I tried inverting the colors in the accessibility settings which helpped for the messaging and made everything else unsuable.

If I can't change the colors I will have to revert the OS (same colors but with black text and less vivid gradients) or change to a phone/OS that allows for better customization/ accessability options. This really *****...I have had a iPhone for a long time.

iPhone 5, iOS 7

I agree. The pale colours are too washed out for the green icons. I can barely read white on green text messages. Is there an option to select an adult colour palette?

Did find from another forum a little help. Inverting colors is not great since it inverts everything. However, you can go into the Accessibility settings and at the very bottom there is a Accessibility Shortcut which you can just select invert colors and hit the home key 3 times and it will invert. So if you are having trouble seeing the icons in mail you hit 3 times and the colors invert. Hit. 3 times again and back to original colors. Not a great solution as some of the color inverts are horrible like the stock app. But it does help a little until Apple gets it act together. Like many on this forum I can not rad anything which has a green bubble like phone calls, messages etc. nor can I see icons in mail etc. this shortcut helps a little but not great if you are color blind.

Agreed! The terrible color scheme of the messages app is the worst thing for me on the new update. I hate sending any messages now purey because of the colors. I'm not really sure why Apple chooses to make themselves so susceptible to scrutiny like this. All they needed to do was add a " color schemes" option that the user could use to control the colors of each app. Or, instead of doing "color schemes" and then in a future update coming out with something where the user could create the color themselves, just put it in the update now. It seems the entire reason that Apple now has less than 20% of the market control is because they refuse to break ground now, and instead decide to hold onto things for future updates or new phone releases. Apple should pay attention to their support wall and the feedback they get on this type of stuff. Apple is losing a ton of people, not because they don't change, but because they don't adapt. We have seen Apple change, but the change is more of a "one size fits all mentality". Apple should be exercising an "options" mentality where the user of their device has more freedom to make their device into what they want it to be. Perhaps this is why so many people jail break their phones. All in all, the message colors are making me strongly consider the android route on my next smart phone. Please fix immediately!!!!!!!!

Your contacts' phone numbers. Go to edit contact and change the phone number to "iPhone" and it goes to blue. U have to do it to each number that is not set to "iPhone"

The bubbles are green if you send to a non-iPhone, blue if to an iPhone. The label you have set for the contact is irrelevant. You could change "iPhone" to "potato" and the bubble would still be blue. Conversly, changing the label of non-iPhone number to iPhone will not change the bubble color to blue.

In addition to changing the bubble color, Apple needs to add a way to adjust the font color and the background color of the messages app. Apple should also add a way to change the keyboard colors. Give the user the options and the ability to adjust the color themselves. So when people start to complain about the message bubble colors, Apple can say, "hey, we gave you the ability to change the color to what you prefer." Then Apple won't have to worry about coming out with updates for the colors to make people happy. I'm strongly considering an android if this is not fixed. Atleast they give the user choice and don't act under the one size fits all mentality and expect people to just deal with it.

Apple Iphone designers:

Your new IOS *****. You have managed to ruin the best mobile operating system in history. Apple should fire his entire designer staff immediately, really, fluo colors? are you high? or color blind? If you do not fix this monumental screw up I can assure you have lost a customer for life. Good luck with that younger crowd, I do not think they have the resources to buy a 1.000 USD cell phone, you are marketing to the worng demographic.

I agree.

The motion on the icons makes me feel sick and the colour schemes make my eyes hurt. I have only had my phone a few weeks, after moving over from a Galaxy, and i am beginning to regret it already

iOS 6 was real good and I like the size of the handset, but this..... I like where they are going, but this seems like something rushed out without any consultaion with the users.

I have asked support to either allow me to downgrade back to iOS6 or what their return and refund policy is as this has almost made my phone unusable. If they cannot sort ths out soon - and I mean in the next few weeks - I shall be heading down to my apple store demanding a full refund.

iOS 7's readability and colors are abysmal. It could be time for Cydia for me. I don't care if Louis CK snarks at me that I'm having "white people's problems." :-)

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Apple can try whatever it wants, a la facebook's heinous user privacy policies which change every few months. Apple and facebook do whatever they think they can get away with. Long term the only things which will make a fat-headed corporate manager change their approach to customers is to 1.) lose enough of them over their stupid decisions that it affects their profits, or 2.) enough of their customers complain that the company's product changes suck dry eggs.

My husband is color blind to green!! This bright of a green turns to white - with the white text - he CANNOT even read the message. Apple fix this crap, so that we can change the bubble color or at least the text color. Did you know apple that 10% of the population is color blind to green? You think your tech department would have thought about this when creating this update. Heck I'm in school for Information Technology and that was the FIRST thing we learned, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thanks for that tip miramarbeach! I'm not color blind, but the combination of bright white and blindingly bright colors is giving me migraines. Being able to wail switch back and forth with the much easier on the eyes inverted colors allows me to give Apple time to fix this. I am optimistic that they will. I just hope it's soon. I really don't want to switch, but if they don't fix it, I will have no choice but to leave.
