IOS 7 - Change message bubble color?, IOS 7 - Change message bubble color?

I'm guessing we still can't change the message bubble colors? It was just annoying before. Now it is a necessity.

The vivid green/white on a white background just makes it hard to see/read for SMS messages...I can go as far as saying that it hurts my eyes. The blue and white are almost as bad for iMessages. I tried inverting the colors in the accessibility settings which helpped for the messaging and made everything else unsuable.

If I can't change the colors I will have to revert the OS (same colors but with black text and less vivid gradients) or change to a phone/OS that allows for better customization/ accessability options. This really *****...I have had a iPhone for a long time.

iPhone 5, iOS 7

I agree. The pale colours are too washed out for the green icons. I can barely read white on green text messages. Is there an option to select an adult colour palette?

I'd just like to add my voice to those here. I'm one of the 12.5% of men who are colourblind. I happen to be marginally red/green deficient.

The white text on the green (so I'm told) background is pretty much illegible.

There are options ot assist users with many diabilities, but it seems someone ignored colourblindness. I'm in the UK so excuse the spellling of Colour).

All I want is black text as a minimum.

While true an inversion of colors affects everything on your phone, I just learned that within the Accessibility setting, you can customize inversion to occur and remove with a triple tap of the home button. In this way, while in texts, if struggling to read, you could quickly invert and just as quickly revert. What do you think.

You can now change "sender & my background/font colors & font style" on a Mac. search "Viewing". Still looking how to do this on my iphone...

Change balloon style, text size, and color

You can customize the way your messages appear in the Messages window.

  • To choose whether messages are shown in balloons or boxes, or to see pictures or names for your friends, choose View > Messages, and then choose one of the options.
  • To choose the background color, font color, or font for you and your friends, choose Messages > Preferences, click Viewing, then choose an option from the pop-up menus. If you choose Automatic, you’ll use the color settings your friend set.
  • To quickly adjust the font size for your messages, choose View, then choose a command.

Ahh, I am beyond frustrated. This is a Mac houshold. I have 2 MBP's, (One work, one personal), a Mac Mini, bot Boys have MBP's in college, and I control access to the home core switch, and firewals. (Cisco 3560, Juniper 5GT). I had a 3G, 4G and now 5G. I am not even looking at the Iphone6, I am looking at the Samsung Android devices. I figure at Samsung they would not have difficulty allowing customization of color or font. It is trivial. I don't care much for Google anything, don't trust them. But I don't have to use them either. I have replaced all my IPhone and IPAD ap's with their comparable Andoid counterparts. The savings of upgrading to a Laptop at 1/2 the price, with 32GB RAM, quad core Haswell Chip, running VMWARE workstation, and simultaneous Windows 7 and Ubuntu Desktop, with Galaxy tablets, seems like a whole lot of savings. Oh, no IMessages, but heck, phone companies plans are all Data now, and unlimited text and calls. So imessage toll bypass is useless. Facebook? All my friends and work use Skype. (How many signatures in email do you see a "Facebook ID:", vs a "Skype ID:".... Appears innovation and common sense left with Steve. I can't believe we are going in to 2014 and this still has not been resolved. Bye Apple.

Exactly! The Nuclear Green/white lettering in Imessage, and the fact that you can't actually select the color pallete is so poor. This entire thread, and a few dozen otherw on various sites I have seen are dedicated to this one problem. Yet given the release date of IOS 7 and patches, Apple has yet to fix it, or perhaps even consider it a problem. I have normal eyesight and the text color is a problem for me. With all the "assistive" technology built in to the "Apple framework", why does IMessage not have to fit that framework??

The "Rest": is a catharsis of observation and inevitable outcome if Apple is not more responsive to the "obvious" as they have been in the past. I don't think I am alone. For a person/engineer that is used to Apple productivity tools throughout his day for years, to move away from Apple would be very disappointing. I sure you can understand that.
