"This apple ID has not yet been used with the app store."

Hello. I've created an Apple ID accout on the apple.com website so I can use the app store to update or download apps. However, when I tried to do that, the app store displayed a message saying, "This apple ID has not yet been used with the app store." To quote http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2589, "If you already have an Apple ID, you can easily use it at the iTunes Store or Mac App Store. You already have an Apple ID if you bought something at the Apple Store, registered your product online, or used the My Apple ID page." I am very confused, because I know for sure that I have bought a MacBook Pro (10.8.4) in Hong Kong some weeks ago. Here is a procedure of my attempt to get XCode:

1. I wish to get XCode

User uploaded file

2. I enter my Apple ID and password just as I do to log in to apple.com

User uploaded file

3. ???

User uploaded file

So what is the meaning behind this? Do I restart my computer? Is it because I bought my MacBook Pro in Hong Kong that I must register an Apple ID in the Hong Kong Apple website (which, in my personal opinion, is a bit absurd)? What do I do? Please help.

Many thanks.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

I am having the same problem. My son got an ipad mini and I am setting it up as a new ipad. I try to sign in with my apple ID and it brings me to an UPDATED ID page that says I must use an email address. I tyoe in my email address that is associated with my apple ID and I get the same friggin message

Try Another Apple ID

Thia apple id is alrady being used. If this is your account, reset a forgotten password at blah blah blah.

I am not using an icorrect password. Can Apple make things any more difficult? This is why I will never buy an Apple ANYTHING for myself. Its idiotic that I cannot rurn this thing on and just use it without struggling with Apple's red tape.

OK Genuoises, tell me what I am doing wrong. I am dying to find out.

So I had just the same problem - I had just bought an used MacBook Air and I already had an existing Apple ID, used f.e. in Apple Developer

After clicking "Review" in this alert, nothing happened. So this is a bug which Apple could fix in their free time.

How to solve it?

You have to register your Apple ID on your own, simply by opening iTunes and trying to sign in trough it. It will ask you for some billing details - and after it, everything should be fine.

I went through same process. Apparently you cannot go in without giving your credit card information. So here is one trick.

Go in with your original id when it asks for review.

Enter your card information and create the account

Open itunes and go in to your account.

Your card will be mentioned there. Edit information and remove card.

Card information is not saved anymore and account is created. No need to do anything else.

Hello,

I have an Apple ID that was issued by my work. They just issued an iPad. I am now trying to go through the steps of setting up the App Store on the iPad. (I have set up 3 of my own iPads, so I know the process. Something is wrong for some reason) I am also getting the message "This Apple ID has not yet been used in the iTunes Store" with a Cancel or Review button choice. Clicking Review brings up Account Settings where I choose United States, Next, then Accept the Terms and Conditions.

The next window that opens is a window that wants an Email Address that says "This will be your new Apple ID", the password, A single security question that I must type, and birthdate.

If I choose my work Apple ID, it says it is an existing ID and goes into a loop where I get the same window over and over.

Creating a new ID isn't a choice. My Apple ID must be the work issued ID with the my-work-email@address.com

It cannot be anything different.

If I try to do the same thing on a computer, it gives me an error saying I have not entered the email address.

My Apple ID profile has both the proper work email and a rescue email address entered.

Not sure what else to do. I'm sure work can assist, but, I was hoping to find an answer here.

Thanks.
