Any way to turn off iOS 7 navigation animations?

The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache. It's exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.

How do I turn them off? Do I have to revert to 6?

I can appreciate the gee-whiz feature of icons flying around the screen, the subtle fade in/out when powering up and down, and the warp factor experience of opening a folder. This kind of stuff might be great for selling an iPad in the store to a new customer but it really detracts from the utility of device. All i know is Apple better put in a switch to "completely" turn off these useless and annoying animations.

Anything that adds even a few milliseconds to the response time just makes the experience slower. I would really like my iPad to respond as quickly as possible.

Also, when I first heard these complaints I had upgraded my iPhone and it didn't seem like a big deal. Now that I've upgraded my iPad I'm not happy. On the larger screen it's disorienting and I want to look away while it does it's cute little dance of icons which make me dizzy.

Does Apple even field test this stuff or is Apple only run by marketing types these days?

Im not an iphone user, however I have always had an ipod with me.

My gf recently bought me a new ipod touch 5 and I absolutely love it.

When ios 7 was released I was super excited and rushed home from school to update even though I'm generally not an apple user.

My biggest gripes with ios 7, I'm sure many people feel the same about these:

1) The animations are SO much slower than ios 6. Sometimes going through menus/opening apps is a chore just due to waiting for the animation to finish. Even when the animation is 100% completed, you still need to wait a few milliseconds to be able to select anything! Terrible!

2) The animations are inconsistent. I'm sure this has been mentioned over and over, but sometimes they're smooth, other times they're SO JERKY.

I thought apple was known for smooth animations and transitions? I like my animations to be smooth and fast so I can get what I need to get done FAST.

3) This one is probably just me, but the bottom dock is too opaque. I feel it just takes up too much wallpaper real estate. There needs to be an option to completely disable that dock background or at least adjust the transparency level.

Hopefully Apple remedies our issues soon.

I upgraded from a 4s that was running IOS 7 to the 5s about a week ago and I have been suffering from motion sickness ever since. The frustrating part is that I0S 7 on my 4s gave me no issuse but on the 5s I am suffering daily. I am not sure if it is the larger scree or the higher resolution etc. I love the look and feel of the 5s just wish I could turn off all the zooming or downgrade to IOS 6 on the 5s. I have my fingers crossed that apple will allow users to disable the zooming that is making us ill in a soon to be released update. I literally went to Walgreens and purchased dramimine today which has helped me a bit.

I think the answer lies in Googling: Jony Ive+Leica

Therein lies the answer. Form trumps Function.

Personally, I cannot see any professional photographer using this camera. It's a toy, a piece of 'jewelry, it's an in your face product. It is a product for looks, impressing your neighbors, friends, but not for taking pictures. Minimalist to say the least. (BTW, I'm a photographer, and was shocked, but not surprised when I read the news release - Disclaimer: I have not handled this Leica).

Albeit, I'm surprised Ives left the hooks (poor in design) for a camera strap, as they are not on the iPhone (lack of lanyard hole), so the iPhone can drop easily into the toilet, or impact tested on the sidewalk. 😉

Nice on a shelf, not meant to be used, and for the Antique Road Show in 100 years. Just use your imagination. and apply to the iPhone design.

BTW, love the Samsung S4, except for all the bloatware, which is when the product leaves the (practical) engineers, and gets to the marketing staff.

Time to be a hog and root! 😝

Well I might as well add my comments here too. I have sent many feedback emails to Apple and you never really know if they read them or not. They say they do but that can't possibly be true as it would take a whole division of Apple and a whole building full of employes to read all the feedback emails. Also if you will notice on the Apple feedback site there is not a feedback page for iOS. There is for OSX and for iPhone, etc....though.

Anyway, I too get totally nauseous and I get migraines from trying to use my iPad that I "downgraded" to iOS 7. I now have had to stop using it until Apple gives us a disable on the animations and the motion too. I will try the single icon on home page for now but I like to switch back and forth while emailing photos, website links, blog posts etc. so that makes it a problem for the temporary solution. Glad I did not do my iPhone yet. I was going to get the new 5s but I have decided to see if Apple disables the animation stuff first.

I really thought with Jony in charge of software development now, that the new iOS would be more professional looking and more solid for business use. As it turns out it is full of childish gimmicks and kiddy looking icons seen on some toys from the 60s. This iOS version is much worse than the faux leather that he fought Jobs against in the OSX.

I don't get it.

I don't know enough about cameras, but I do not think that one he designed looks better than other Leica's, worse actually. Form over function, is what ios7 is. The parallax, the zooming on everything. What is the point of that? How does that make it work better? It sounded like he was the one who also really pushed for the plastic phone. The ios, does match it that phone. Even so, if there was an option to turn it off, I would still take it over a oled s4, which is just such a cheap piece of hardware. I have no problem, with the 5s, itself. The phone is just about perfect. What is running on it, is far from it.

Please forgive me if this has been discussed, though I've read all 39 pages because I'm SO aggravated!

I think the flying zoom is responsible for a large part of the issue but I'm thinking another major issue for me, if not possibly the most affecting, is the ever bouncing and and animated gradient of text messages hits all issues - eyestrain, vertigo, nausea, headaches. None of which I have ever really suffered from. The constant movement, though somewhat subtle and especially the animated gradient is so disturbing to the human eye and brain! And if course the ridiculous white space, unreadable font and colors.

I text a lot and you can't simply solve this by looking away, which is already an insanely ridiculous "solution."

I've been sending feedback almost everyday to the accessibility address. I have epilepsy and I really think this could be a product safety issue, no matter the useless opinions of fanboys who seem to have a what borders on a sexually tinged fanaticism. Ha.

I really don't want a non apple phone but what is the alternative at this point? Sorry, tl;dr.

I agree. It's been a week since I updated and I still don't want to look at or use my iPhone. A week ago, I would have said unreservedly that it's the best mobile phone. Now, the best I can say is that it's the least bad. None of the alternatives thrill me the way the iPhone used to.

Now I feel bad for convincing my stepmom to get an iPhone, but at least she hasn't "upgraded." She had already heard too many horror stories.

Thanks for the launch pad suggestion.

It's a work around but is working better than the nothing response from Apple.

Have no icons on home screen. Most used and Launch Pad in the dock.

Not having to deal with the zoom animation most of the time really magnifies how awful it is when I have to navigate outside of Launch Pad.

Apple, please deal with this!

Any way to turn off iOS 7 navigation animations?
