SOLUTION to the static audio issue

A while ago, I was having a problem where I could hear static whenever audio was played regardless if I used headphones or speakers.

The static sound is not a hardware issue. It comes from the internet browser Google Chrome. The issue is that the computer is using the integrated flash plug-in that comes with Chrome rather than using an actual Flash Player from the computer.

To fix this (if this is occuring in Chrome), this is what I have done:

1) Open Chrome and type "chrome://plugins/" without the quotation marks into the address bar

2) Disable the Adobe Flash Player

3) Download Adobe Flash Player for Google Chrome (Mac version)

This should fix the problem, as the Flash player is part of the computer and not of the browser.

I have contacted Applecare to tell them about this issue and solution with developers to see if there can be a fix for integrated Flash plug-ins.

I hope that this solves the problem for those having the static audio issue!

Cheers!

I have uninstalled & reinstalled Flash, Chrome, AntiPop, AND KeepSoundOn.

I have cleared my caches, freed up 48GB of space on my MacBook Air, and run a host of other cleanup tasks.

When I visited my System Preferences > Network, I discovered that it had 300 recurring instances of a Samsung Android device with un-configured settings. I deleted all of them. This has helped greatly in stopping the sound, in addition to using AntiPop.

The crackling and static sounds seem to have completely halted.

However, I am now experiencing slow behaviour when I try to increase the volume while using external speakers, with or without the sound feedback on.

I use a Bluetooth headset, not the AUX jack. I have yet to test recording ability, but when I do, I'll provide updates.

Hope this helps. If anyone has more suggestions, I welcome them. I am so sick of this problem, I use my laptop for rich media creation, and this is quite annoying to me and my coworkers.

Thanks.

I've just upgraded to Mavericks and hope the static/noise will be fixed now. (deteriorates every 10 minutes, problem was fixed then came back). I've also uninstalled my old Pro-Tools 8.0.5 and downloaded the new free version, Pro Tools First (PT 12). Since my mac mini came with mavericks, I simply did a Command R and installed fresh OSX, all of my data was still there from Mountain Lion, but ofcoarse you want to at least have a time machine backup if not a clone of your drive. I'll let you know if this has solved the issue.
