To delete a city in the weather app, swipe Right to Left - it will open a dialog that will allow you to delete a city.
HTH
After hammering away at all of these great suggestions, I believe when the locations services are turned on they will always default to the location that is recieved by your phone. You can add and delete cities as needed but you cannot delete the city your system defaults to. Everytime you turn off location services you can clear it out but when you turn your location services back on it will return. You can leave your location services turned off if you don't want your deleted cities poping back up but that will negate the whole reason of having location services for other purposes. It is not a malfunction, it is the nature of the beast!
This was seriously the only response that helped me. Seeing as you don't start out on the screen with the faint lines, saying that you hit those first before swiping left to right would have been nice.
incredibly easy when you know how😉
Thank you! I gotta remember that 'swipe' is not the same as 'drag' ... I was dragging the weather list item left and right, but not 'swiping' - seems the 'swipe' is a common 'new' technique now for revealing 'hidden' commands such as the delete...thx!
1. Open the app.
2. Tap bottom right corner to bring up list of cities/locations.
3. Swipe from right to left on the city/location you want to delete.
COUNTERINTUITIVE AS ALL ****. ONE MORE REASON I REALLY REALLY DON'T WANT TO BE AN APPLE CUSTOMER ANYMORE.
Things like this, smaller 'buttons' text to tap, bad 'improvements' to the maps app, longer zoom times when Apple felt like including a graphical flourish before I can get something accomplished, an inability to comprehend that not every single border on the phone needs to activate a swipe menu, taking away my double-click to activate music when locked ability (yeah that menu can go to ****), and an inability to turn the phone upside down when reading... ugh. Bad update.
...please mention that you have to be in the city overview mode first. Only then the dialigue box will open and you can delete the city.
Yes, this annoyance is the most unlike iOS and Apple. Very frustrating.
Thanks for whoever provided answers here.
Thanks
This solved my problem! Thank you!
Thanks so much ! Got 'er done ! Took me a couple of minutes to figure out that I had to first get the list of cities that I'd saved by clicking on the little icon in the bottom right of the screen and THEN swipe from right to left on the particular cities that I wanted to delete to reveal the red DELETE button . . .
Thanks a bunch . . . and I'm sure that my 30-year-old son (my I.T. man) would thank you, too . . . if he knew that you'd helped me to help myself . . . instead of always calling on HIM ! hahahah !
Have a GREAT day !

Access the summary list of city weather stats. Then swipe right to left on the city you want to delete. A red delete button will appear. Press it.
outstanding it works thanks
Been using iOS for 4-5 years and this v7 one stumped me.
Staggeringly counter-intuitive - I was swiping left to right.
Thank you soooo much. This has been driving me CRAZY for over a year now!!!
Thank you! Your very specific instructions were extremely helpful and got the job done. Too bad this couldn't be more intuitive.
