My ipad VIDEOS app doesn't show the movie Names with IOS 7

SOLUTION: Thank you to everyone on this thread to leading me to what I believe is a solution. Here goes: when I updated to IOS7 on my iPad mine, I had a "play list" of movies that I shot with my iPhone. These movies were classified as "home videos" under "get info" (iTunes - click on movie - file - get info - options - media kind - select home video). An earlier poster suggested that the "media kind" had to be set to "home video" and not "movie" for the name of the movie to be displayed under the icon. I thought that was in error, because my movies WERE set to "home video". However, once I plugged my iPad mini into my computer and did a fresh sync with iTunes, the movie names appeared beneith the icon. One poster said the key was to put the movies in a playlist. So I did an experiment. I put some movies in a play list, and some movies I didn't. I synched. ONLY the movies with the "home video" designation displayed the name, whether or not they were in a playlist. Those movies that had designation of "Movie" did not display the name, whether or not they were in a playlist. So I have concluded that the key is the "Home video designation" and a fresh sync with iTunes. Hopes this helps.

Two things. First: changing all your 700 movies Media Kind to "Home Videos" is no big deal because you can in iTunes in list view select all the movies and then go to Get info, under options change the Media Kind to "Home Videos". Hold down the Option Key when you press the OK putton. NOTE: All the items you select have to be the same kind.

The Second is : The pproblem I and some others are having is with the Video App on the iPad. When you click on "Sharing" ( to see all the movies being shared out by iTunes with Home Sharing turned on. ) that is where the titles are missing.

HI all this is an easy fix, for all copied & or DIY vids you created, but didnt purchase.

First remove all videos from the ipad, then go to itunes where videos should all be there unless removed, then put them back. select all vids in your itunes libaray, by right clicking and drag all to select all.

Then right click on one video, a warning about editing will come up, just ignore it and proceed forward. when you right click a drop down box appears that says "get info" select & change the setting to "Home Videos" waiting for change depends on how many vids you want to convert to home vids. when done repaste all vids to ipad in one shot by going to movies tab in itunes, syncing movies thru itunes to ipad...........wallah job done. The " films" heading title will disapear & youll be left with two final titles that say, "music Videos & home Videos", but most importantly youll see all titles again. may need to upgarde software to do this, but not sure.

Best past you dont have to individually change each vid to home movies, like i said select all and change to Home Movies. good luck.

IOS 7 will only put the names of the Home Movies under the movies, but not the other movies.

Simply go into your Itunes on your computer, right click on a movie, click GET INFO, go to options, under MEDIA KIND, change it to HOME MOVIE.

Do that to all your movies and they will be shifted to the HOME MOVIE section of iTunes.

And then when you upload them to your ipad or iphone, they will all have have the names underneath them.

You can do it individually, or you can select all the movies at once, right click on one of the movies, click GET INFO, go to OPTIONS, and under MEDIA KIND, change it to HOME MOVIE.

your playlist will show the title of the video, the length, whether it's a new addition, if you've watched some of the video, it'll tell you how much of it you've watched, it'll start playing where you stopped, etc.

very good for a free app. i've been using it for months now and have never had a problem with it. i've given up on apple fixing this obvious flaw...

Hello everyone, I have found my own solution to this. Let me first explain that I am doing this for my iPad and using Shared library. I am not actually syncing the videos to my iPad. Have over 50 GB's of this stuff. So they are being served by May Mac Pro downstairs. Some people said to change the type to "Home movies" . Tried this and no luck. However, I had noticed that all my TV shows showed up with a preview and name titles. Therefore, here is how I solved it:

In iTunes on my Mac Pro, select Movies in the Sidebar. Then in the right pane select the "list" view. Now highlight or select ALL the movies you want to change. Make sure they are all highlighted and then right click and select "get info". You will be asked if you want to change all and select Yes. Now since all the ones I selected are all of the same subject, video tutorials, I went to the Video tab first and in the Show area, I put in a name, this way they are all in this name category. Then go to the Options tab and where it says "Media Kind", select "TV Show", and the hit OK. Depending how many you have, a window will come up showing the progress while it changes meta tagging. Now when I go to my iPad, and select the Videos app, when it opens I select "Shared", select my library, and when it connects I select TV Shows tab, and there is an icon with the name of what I named the episodes earlier, I click this and there are ALL my videos, with icons and titles! Wahlah! It's too bad we have to go through all this. What I am wondering though, will this TV Shows category in iTunes be continually monitored so that when I add more videos it will pick them up or will I have to go through the same steps again? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks and good luck.

Now when I go to my iPad, and select the Videos app, when it opens I select "Shared", select my library, and when it connects I select TV Shows tab, and there is an icon with the name of the show, "NPhoto" I named the episodes earlier, I click this and there are ALL my videos, with frame icons and titles!
