I just updated my Ipad 2 to IOS7, now it is asking me for a passcode. I never set a passcode on my Ipad, so how can I enter a passcode. I tried using the OIS7 passcode I use on my Iphone and it did not work and now my Ipad is disabled

I just updated my Ipad 2 to IOS 7, now it is asking me for a passcode. I never set a passcode on my Ipad, so how can I enter a passcode. Earlier today I upgraded my Iphone 5 to IOS 7 and it asked me to set a passcode, which now works fine on my Phone. I tried using the OIS7 passcode I use on my Iphone 5 and it did not work and now my Ipad is disabled. Both devices are on icloud and share the same apple id. The Ipad screen says slide to set up but then there is a prompt for passcode, not for setting up passcode

I am having the same exact problem. I've never set up a password on my iPad (please don't lecture me about using one - my iPad is rarely if ever anywhere but at home). I updated to ios 7 last night - and received NO prompt for a passcode - used the iPad for a bit, then turned it off. This morning the iPad requires a passcode. As it's disabled, there is no way to get to settings. I connected to iTunes but iTunes won't connect unless I enter the passcode on the iPad. So, there is no way to unlock it using iTunes, synch with iTunes, or restore the iPad. It is now as useful as a paperweight. Any suggestions?

I just now updated to ios 7 on both my iPhone 5 and my iPad retina. The iPhone updated flawlessly and prompted me for my 4 digit passcode. No problem.

However, the iPad updated and then asked me for a "passcode" (not the 4 digit one). I am meticulous about keeping track of my passcodes so I entered the original passcode I set when I got the iPad and before I enabled the 4 digit passcode feature - the iPad will not accept it and is now disabled.

Very frustrating.

I called Apple Support and a supervisor helped resolve this for me on my iPad. I suggest calling them for help as this is obviously an issue with the iOS 7 update - she helped me without charge. I could be missing something in my upcoming description, so do not take this as complete - call them.

I had to update iTunes on my Mac Air to the latest version, and I had an iCloud backup from the day I updated to iOS7. Have iTunes open but do NOT connect your iPad yet. Shut down the iPad. Then press/hold the Home key on the iPad while you connect the USB from the iPad to the computer (an image of the USB cable appeared on the iPad). Follow the prompts in iTunes to restore and then backup using iCloud. When the iPad rebooted again to do the backup install, I got the same pass code issue and iTunes would not recognize the iPad without entering a pass code. I disconnected the iPad, turned it off, pressed the Home key while connecting the USB cable. When I did the restore and backup from iCloud the second time, it worked without the pass code issue occurring.

Mine just did the same thing. I set the identical password to my VM at work, and it doesn't accept it. iPad is now disabled. Issue I have: Just restored my computer and hadn't yet backed up iPad.

If I lose the 2000+ photos on my iPad because of an update issue with iOS7, I won't exactly be happy.

If you have to restore your iPad, they will be lost. However, if you've never backed up your iPad on iTunes, then that's on you. If you regularly back up your iPad to iTunes, or through iCloud, you might be all right.

If I had 2000 important photos, trust me, it's going to sit on one portable device. But hey that's just me, if I think it's important I store it in several location, since it's so easy to do on my iPad.

Same problem here. I digited the passcode in the final ios 7 setup procedure, i digited it twice at it asked me for security reasons, and it accepted it. Then, i browsed the iphone for several minutes, and I leaved it away. After picked it up again, it asked for the passcode but it didn't recognize it any more. Now my iphone is disabled and I'm very angry with Apple and Cook, it won't be happened with Jobs.

I will loose thousands of pictures.

I entered an eight digit code during the update 7 process. After the update was completed started using the iPAD all ok. This morning a passcode needed entering, will not accept the code I entered. no entry. **** crazy! Btw why has the passcode feature code alpa characters listed?

Anyway this moment trying what CincinnatiJimO said above. Crazy crazy crazy wasting my time!!!!!!
