Yeah, this is happening to me too and it's quite annoying.

Managed to solve duplicate photos in my iphone 5S in this way. I use iPhotos on Mac to store all my pics and there are no duplicates in my iPhoto albums.

1. Backup iPhone

2. Go to iPhone, Settings, Photos and Camera and switch off My Photo Stream. Choose option to delete all photos on phone when asked. The photos are in iPhoto so they should be ok.

3. Go to iTunes (on Mac). After plugging in the phone and under the phone Photos Tab, choose to deselect "Sync Photos from iPhotos". The mac should ask to remove all photos from the phone. Go ahead. Complete the sync.

4. There should be no photos left on the iphone at this stage.

5. In iTunes check the box "Sync Photos from iPhoto" and choose the events and albums to place back into the phone. Sync. This should place single copies without duplicates.

This allows events and albums to be shown without duplicates but doesn't allow Photo Stream to work. I'd rather have it this way and sync with Mac from time to time to get the pics into the Mac. Rather than to have duplicates taking up space on my phone.

Hope this helps.

I also am having these issues. Now I have a new event called 'events from my mac' all the same photos all over again and it too is locked. I can't delete it. Extremely frustrated. They are now sharing with my ipad as well. When my devices sync with my mac - the message is mac sync to iphone, shouldn't it be iphone sync to mac? How do I change that? Is this part of the problem?

What is happening, is that the Photos app on your iPhone is showing you photos from both your Camera Roll and your Mac's iPhoto Library side by side, and it appears that they are duplicated on your iPhone.

The simple fix is to connect your iPhone to your Mac, open iPhoto, import all your photos from your iPhone and choose to delete them afterwards. If you've already imported them all, click the "Remove photos from iPhone" button.

This will reset your Camera Roll to 0 photos and there will no longer be duplicates in the Photos tab of the Photos app on your iPhone.

What I dont understand is why does it work perfectly on my iPad with no duplications but my iPhone has every single image doubled.

I am syncing with the same Mac, the settings are the same unless I may have missed something.

I tried deleting all pictures from my phone and re-synching with my Mac but still duplicates on the phone and I dont have duplicated on my Mac (iPhoto) so where are they coming from?

this will never be resolved.. im seeing dupes as well only fix is turning the re-tarded photostream off and also all my photos come in as png formats which are smaller than jpeg and i can never save any edits i make on the iphony POS... Apple never reads any of this and they dont give a rats behind about their customers problems.. theyre all on the beaches wading in their piles of billions sipping pina coladas.. im leaving apple as soon as my contract to the MOB finishes
