Same exact crap with mine. I won't use my phone for a few minutes or half hour, go to use it, it freezes up, either eventually goes black or have to do a hard reset. No solution has worked.

I have heard turning off access to control center on lock screen may help, which I just did. But we'll see. Apple you guys need to fix this crap

I have an iPhone 5 and have the same problem since updating to IOS 7. When the phone goes into standby or I lock it it is crashing when asleep and not coming back on. This is incredibly frustrating as I am using the phone for work and I am missing calls from customers and colleagues, as the phone does not wake up when I am being called if if has crashed.

I have to reset over 15+ times a day. You can imagine how angry the people who are driving and relying on their ios 7 iphones are! I cannot even run an Podcast as they phone crashes after about 4 mins in standby mode...

I have turned off background app refresh and disabled location services but this is no improvement. Updating to IOS 7.0.2 has not helped in anyway either. I am going to do a restore today and see if that nails it. Failing that I can only assume there is some conflict with an app or new feature I have on the phone so may be reduced to removing them all.....

Upgraded my iPhone 5 to ios 7.2. Turning off auto-lock screen is too big a security risk for me. Twice recently when I've placed calls the phone locks and I'm unable to talk to the person. I hear them speaking as they wonder why I'm not answering. My screen is black, and there is no response to Home, Power, or any other controls. After a few minutes the phone reboots. Clearly this is a system issue, and a serious one. Tomorrow the workweek starts and millions of users will find their business reliance on iPhone to be a serious problem.

It's scary that no one from Apple has responded here to even say they are looking into it.

I wanted to give you all an update on my end. I tried turning off some of the apps in background app refresh but I was still getting a lock up in the evenings. I then completely turned off background app refresh and so far I have not yet had a lock-up (it's been three evenings so far). My guess is that it is one of the apps but I haven't had the time to figure out which one (it is not possible to predict when the lock up will happen other than the fact that it was happening every evening).

My guess, again, is that there are several bugs being reported in this thread. Some sound like real hardware problems, while others sound like problems with software (e.g., the app refresh thing), or a third option might be problem hardware whose problem was triggered only by the new software(ios7).

In case it helps anyone, the apps I had in my background app refresh list (which again are turned off now), were:

ShazamRED, Bing, Cards, Chase, Evernote, Google Maps, NYTimes, Pulse, Reminders, Runmeter,

Running, Stocks, Toodledo, Urbanspoon, Weather, and Weather!

Yes. It seems there are multiple possibly unrelated issues people are discussing in this thread, but the problem both you and I (and a few others here) are having seems to be identical.

Interesting. It only happens in the evening for me also. It always freezes at some point between the unlock swipe and entering the first digit or two of my pass code. This definitely seems like a software issue. It seems stupid to replace the whole phone over this.
