iOS 7 music sync problems on iPhone 4

I've updated my iPhone 4 and my mac's iTunes - everything syncs fine except for music. I've tried reboots etc to no avail.

I've tried to sync by playlist, artist, album and genre separately and nothing works with the status bar stuck on "Step 4 of 4" on the preparing bar.

The problem that I encountered was every time I clicked sync it would start but finish in less than 30 seconds and did absolutely nothing and I had no music on my Iphone 4...

To fix it, I simply just unchecked the "Sync Music" box and it asked if I wanted all my music removed from my device. I clicked yes. Then, check the "Sync Music" box again and click "Apply" where "sync" would normally be.

This worked for me after about an hour and a half of pointless frustration. Hopefully it will help you guys!

I have exactly the same problem on my iPhone 5 - have tried all of the solutions listed and it's still getting stuck on the last step or starts to sync and says 1 of xxx but then gets stuck there. I've spent hours on this now and I'm still struggling. Do you think Apple are aware - it must be a bug with IOS 7.

I think I've solved it. I went into Settings, General, Usage and then Music. I then deleted all the music on my phone so there was no data stored. I then connected to iTunes, ticked only the boxes (automatically sync when this iphone is connected, and manually manage my music and videos - I sync only selected playlists), clicked apply and then sync and it finally worked. I could actually see it downloading all of my songs (took about 20 minutes) but it was worth it. Just did the same on my daughter's iphone 4 and it worked on hers too. Good luck everyone :-)

I've finally fixed it.

Since none of the previous mentionend answers solved my problem and also apple care support was unable to help I tried the following thing on my iPhone 4S

  1. Made a Backup on my Mac
  2. Settings > General > Reset > Delete content & Settings and set back my iPhone
  3. Installed it as new iPhone
  4. Made a music sync and it worked
  5. Re-installed the previous backup
  6. Set options to "auto sync with this iPhone" and sync via WIFI
  7. voilá - it works 🙂

Photoart is absolutely right. The simple fact that there hasn't been any fix for this yet is a bit concerning. There is no way I am wiping all of my data on my phone just to fix a syncing bug. A bit frustrating how you need to have some sort of coverage for Apple Support as well, otherwise you pay out of pocket. I am attempting to clear all of the music on my phone and then readding it.

This is getting beyond a joke.

my iphone wont sync

it wont transfer purchases

my itunes is blasted all over itself i.e. most singles are albums

itunes is crap to use.

it should be

artwork | artist | album | song etc.

if i play a song and flick tunes, it should go to the section of the list highlighting the current song

playing. i disnt like the logical order of itunes to start but this is an illogical LEAP BACKWARDS!!!!!

iv reset the phone,

uninst itunes, reloaded itunes

restored the after phone after several reboots

unsyncing music, etc, etc

im totally PEED off and its costing me time and money and NO

solutions yet.

i shall be telling APPLE that i wish to speak to someone VERY high up and

seeking some sort of compensation. this is SERIOUSLY screwing with my life.

im self emnployed taxi driver and i cant sit in front of my pc all f*&king day on the phone!!!

im going to insist that an engineer comes round my house with MY PHONE, MY PC and MY WIFI and

FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
