I installed iOS7 on Saturday and HATE IT!!!!

For awhile I've been thinking about getting an Android phone and this is the tipping point. My ATT contract is up soon and I am getting rid of Apple once and for all. I already gave away my MAC to my daughter because I can't stand anything Apple has done for the past few years.

Good by and good riddance to all things Apple. iOOutoHere

Okay, I've been following this thread and find it not only educational but very entertaining. I also hated iOS 7 but I'm learning to live with it. Battery life came back, after messing around with all the settings, and the problem I had with sweeping to answer the phone went away after a few adjustments. I figured out how to get to the "List View" on the calendar, and like many of you I find the apps to be just to "white."

I think we have to look at a few things: First, I can't believe Apple didn't show this OS to many users who just loved it. And Jobs had the reputation of telling you what you wanted and convincing you to "Think Different." That said, he should have given us a choice as to background colors and text instead of a one size fits all approach.

Another problem(?) is that the iPhone is designed to be used with one hand. The narrow screen and sweeping functions are so you can do pretty much everything with one hand. Look at the new, larger phones and try to manipulate them with one hand. While these new phones are beautiful, they don't funcion like an iPhone. This is why the new iPhones are tall and narrow.

As someone else said in this thread, many of the improvements you can't see, and not changing the look and feel along with it would have dissapointed many stockholders and customers.

I guess what I'm trying to say is maybe you should give Apple a chance to correct some of these issues before you throw in the towel. Threads like these have been the norm since the first iPhone and after every new OS release. Am I thrilled with iOS 7? NO. Am I going to run out and get an Android phone this afternoon? NO, I'm not gonna do that either. Will I jailbread the phone? You know, with the warranty up and my contract up that's a real possibility if Apple doesn't get it's act together, at least with regard to those white backgrounds.

may, tone down some of the icons, but the flat look is here to stay.

People will adjust and those that don't won't. It is just human

nature.

There was an uproar when Apple went, on MacOS from the old System 6 to System 7 (remember that one?). There was an uproar when the MacOS went from from System 7 to Sytem 8. There was an uproar when we went from MacOS 9 to MacOS X. And there has not been a transition with the different iterations of X, that has not been controversial.

Much the same thing in the differrent flavors of iOS. As you say people will adjust. And they will probably have to adjust to the upcomming Mavericks, which from what I gather, will be just as radical as iOS7.

I've been using Macs since the late 80's. While I have not liked many of the things Apple has done, which seem to ignore their customers, I have never seen them as off the mark as they are on iOS 7 in terms of design. It's just buck ugly. It's unpleasant to look at. And no, other than zooming icons all over the place, I really don't find any difference in how it functions on a practical level.

I've probably purchased over 40 Apple products over the decades from computers to laptops to portable devices. But this time, I would seriously look again at an Android, as will many who have actually taken the time to post here (how many who don't post are also looking?). This iOS is merely Apple's attempt to keep up, not innovate. That's pretty clear, having used two Galaxies myself. The difference being the Android systems were customizable. One of the first things I did with the Android was change the email background from white to tan. One of the first things Apple did with this upgrade was suck any color and contrast out, any visual depth, and give to the user what amounts to the first color screens when Palm first came out with them. This isn't so much about astethics (though it's very ugly) as Apple having regressed in terms of providing something that is easy and pleasant to look at. That's extremely important as more and more people are starting to use iPads and iPhones for their actual daily communications. The white screens put me off within 10 seconds. And the white on pale yellows is difficult to read. How this got past all the internal filters of Apple's development process is truly boggling many of us who have walked with this company from the beginning.

It's not the end of the world. But for some people, when their contracts are done, it will be the end of the iPhone for them. And I would think, as the competition continues to gain ground, that would have to bother Apple.

There is something to be said about beauty, whether it is in music, art, or a mobile phone interface. Apple has lost sight of this basic human desire.

The biggest difference in comparing this new iOS change to Mac OS6, to OS7, or OS9 to OSX, or any other change, (even iTunes, or any other iOS for that matter) is that iOS7- once you get it, you have no recourse. No going back. Nothing you can do. No way to change your mind, or decide to wait. (that's pretty harsh) Once you take the leap, (presented as any other "upgrade"- I should have tried the beta) there is nothing you can do but live with it... I like a lot of functionality in iOS7, but much of it makes me so angry I want to smash the device to bits... My iPhone5 had another year to go, but I couldn't bear to deal with iOS7 another millisecond. If I could have gone back, I wouldn't have an issue with any of this, and wouldn't be on this thread... Keep in mind, OS9 to OSX took 6 years. This isn't the apple I want anything to do with... (obviously, apple died with steve.)

I have noticed my eyes have become painful and strained too. I've altered the brightness, which by the way is quite difficult, because when you go into the Control Centre the brightness changes so you have to guesstimate how much less brightness you need, then you find it's not enough when you go back into your application - in this case Safari. I am also experiencing headaches. Come back ios 6 all is forgiven!
