ipad keeps resetting after ios7 update?

After performing a successful update to IOS7 this morning my iPad mini keeps re-booting itself (screen goes blank, Apple logo comes up).

I cannot use the iPad anymore, have tried powering it off/on again but its keeps doing the same thing - anyone have any clues what i should do next?

  1. I had the same problem this morning with my 1st gen iPad Mini 16gb.
  2. After plugging the pad into my computer and running a restore,
  3. I first reloaded a backup and the problem came back.
  4. I restored the iPad again and choose the "set up as new iPad" option. This wiped out everything, but did fix the problem.

I read somewhere else that this comes from running out of memory. I had a couple of "memory low" warnings in the last few days. I wish I had saved up a few more pennies and bought one with at least 32gb. Then again your issue may be different. Good luck.

I had already gone through all those steps with mine, too. Including doing a complete restore/new-iPad of the unit. Nothing helped. Mine would immediately reboot itself any time I tried to power it down, so it would fully drain the battery every day. (I have several gigabytes of storage available -- no out-of-memory situation on mine.)

Same thing happened for the "genius," when I took it to the store as a last resort. He did another complete restore/reset on it -- and it would still immediately reboot itself upon power-off. So we basically gave up.

I haven't been using the iPad recently, as I look around at other tablets while deciding what to do next.

I had very similar experiencing. iPad 2 constantly shutting itself down and needing reboot after ios7 upgrade. Factory recovery and then restore from iCloud made no difference. However, one simple thing that seems to have transformed the situation is closing Safari tabs after use (before I was typically leaving about 9 of them open at any one time). I downloaded a system usage app and it does seem to make a big difference to the free working memory (not to be confused with the storage memory). After first 24 hrs has not needed rebooting once (fingers crossed it continues that way!). I suspect that working memory overuse might be behind a lot of these issues. My tip would be to tidy up Safari use and make sure you don't leave too many apps active at the same time. At least worth a try

Ignore previous post. Within 10 mins of posting that iPad was back to its old ways! By checking with CoreMonitor app I can see that often has to reboot even when there is a lot of free working memory. I think apple are starting to skate very close to the Microsoft situation of about 10 years ago - huge market share but irritating customers by becoming less and less reliable

I guess the good news is that I'm not the only one with this problem! Mine started about 3 weeks ago - very intermitantly. I figures it was a fluke. I hadn't added anything recently. However, now that my iPad mini is officially 1 year old - as of last Monday - I guess it is a "hardware problem". I'm not noticing anything specific going on when it starts to re-boot. A lot of times it is when I'm using my Kindle app (but I use that most often anyway). Sometimes it is on for a while and sometimes right after I turn it on. I have tried the reset suggested above. I'll see what happens when I start read again.

It looks like there is no cure for this. My iPad Retina started 2 days ago to search for signal. Since yesterday it began rebooting every 2 minutes. I tried a complete wipe and clean install through iTunes. That didn't work as it could not complete the install as it got a code 3014 error at the end. I followed all the advice on how to fix the code 3014 error, but no luck. Now I have a doorstop.

Useless iPad.

Well all of the suggestions that this problem is simply a hardware issue are nonsense. I have a brand-new iPad Air that did not have the newest iOS update. As soon as I installed that update I started getting the same problem. Actually, given that it already had an older version of iOS 7, it might have had that problem out-of-the-box. I just noticed that it did not have the newest version of iOS, so I installed it. The problem is that after varying amounts of time my iPad will just stop, the Apple screen comes up, the system goes through a reboot, and brings me back to the screen that I get when I first turn on my iPad. I have an iPad 3 (do they call it that?) that started having the same problem almost immediately after upgrading to iOS 7.

Something is making it do what we called in the PC community a "warm reboot". In fact it reminds me a lot of what would happen when the PC had bad memory or a memory conflict.

I´m also having a major problem with my iPad 4 rebooting itself every 2 minutes or similar. I can´t use it what so ever!

I even did a complete factory restory using iTunes and even when there is nothing installed on the iPad except factory default, the iPad dies almost instantly.

Here is a crash report i photographed yesterday (sorry if image is rotated! I fixed it but server version of the file on google drive hasn´t updated itself I guess):

Hi

I have just started having this problem with my iPad 2, Tuesday night to be exact, I did all the suggested steps from clearing the network, restore, full iTunes factory restore setting, the whole thing with no results to being fixed, it’s still rebooting itself every 2~5mins non-stop.

When I called apple, they said it could be a Hardware issue and asked me to hand over the iPad 2 to my nearest Apple Store, which I will do once they E-Mail me some details needed to hand with the iPad.

This problem occurred (was obvious to figure) with iOS7 releasing, iPad 2 just had problems non-stop ever since, and now this sudden non-stop rebooting every 2~5mins, Apple knows about this problem and is keeping quite about it, and should come with a solution, iPad's cost a lot of money and in many cases (Like me) I cannot just go and buy another iPad, if Apple wants their costumers to be happy, at least acknowledge the problem and sort it out.
