Looking for feedback on how well iOS 7 performs on an iPhone 4 before I upgrade.

Its makes it faster and slower in a way but if you want to make it faster disable all setting that you dont require by going through settings and then if not changed I dont im not sure because I have a Iphone 4 and I disabled settings that I dont need and turn off animations, hope this helps. It slows down the boot up time by at least 5 seconds
I may be dreaming time will tell because not sure if its the app in question or le ziPhone but I've desactivated auto application update which may or may not have been eating background resources. The app in question does background sycning and I was noticing the wifi going down. Things seem to be stabilizing, but time will tell.
Apple makes it so the new updates are almost unusable for older phones, they want you to buy a new phone.
I just saw article that in march we'll get iOS 7.1 and well known bugs will be solved and it will be faster.
my original iPhone running 3.1.3 is running faster than my iPhone 4 on iOS 7 ... this is complete BS! LET ME DOWNGRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I've updated from a iPhone 4 to iPhone 4s. I have to say I have no issues with ios7 on a 4s whatsoever. Booting up is still slower then ios6 but that's not really an issue since most people don't turn off their phones that often and 10 seconds isn't such a big fuss if you only have to deal with it every third day
All issues I had with the iphone 4 and ios 7 are pretty mush gone with the 4s. Everything flows very smoothly even with all animations and blur-effects on. Graphic intense apps and games run without any glitches and loading times for apps and other stuff is pretty good, if they open slower then on ios6 it's not by much. I can't tell the difference anyway.
To sum things up:
If you have an iPhone 4 you should think twice before updating. If you absolutely love the look and new features of ios 7 and don't play any games with intense 3D graphics it could be worth it. Otherwise you should probably wait until you can afford a better phone. The worst thing, as someone wrote earlier in the thread, is the extreme sluggishness that comes when making or recieving calls. Very strange and annoying.
For the iPhone 4s I can't really think of any reason not to update unless you really hate ios7. In my experience the iPhone 4s has no problem at all running it despite what people have stated in earlier this thread.
Here is what I found that worked for me. The Sync was not happening properly and it left most of the new songs added and even photos in zombie state. The Sync would typically never finish and iTunes would get stuck at "Waiting for changes to be applied". Yesterday night, I checked this thread related to iTunes and found the following recommendation to wipe of entire music library and copy again. this might not be suitable for some who have a large music library but it definitely worked for me and I have over 40K songs.

I wish I would've read this forum before I updated to OSX 7. I was trusted Apple in regards to updates. Since I updated to OSX 7 on my iPhone 4, I've really begun to hate my phone. From the super slow lag time, to not being able to answer a simple phone call, to the constant freezing on Safari, OSX 7 has turned my awesome phone into an annoying device that I can't upgrade until July.
If you have an iPhone 4, DO NOT UPGRADE TO OSX 7!!! you will regret it!! Until Apple fixes these bugs, or allows consumers to go back to OSX 6 there is no reason to get another Apple phone again. If their new updates aren't compatible with all their phones, it just seems like a cheap cash grab from Apple to update to a newer phone.
You are wrong on so many levels. Apple was very tight in schedule for developing both iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks. There are a lot of bugs with iOS 7 that have been fixed in update 7.1. Apple may be a big muiltbillion dollar company, but they not that greedy.
EVERYONE WITH iOS 7 on their iphone 4 and iPad 2 update to iOS 7.1 when it gets to your location. It does wonders to performance! :P
How can I be wrong if I'm sharing what I'm experiencing? Based on this thread, I am by no means alone. Please take off the Apple rose coloured glasses, why was Apple on such a tight schedule? It's their company that sets out whatever targets and guidelines they may have. I hope your right about 7.1, because right now, I'm looking at buying a used iPhone to actually use until my contract expires.

(taking off the Apple rose coloured glasses đ) Apple was in the process of working iOS 7 had trouble with some of the new features and had to pull out people from the OS X Mavericks team to fix them (based on reporter's analysis, I'm not the messenger). The result is a choppy operating system for iPhone 4, and maybe 4s. OS X Mavericks had not only a couple of problems but it is missing a bunch of features because of this (might be pushed to 10.10).
They could have waited longer on releasing but that would ruin their yearly calendar for some reason and people will not buy the products in general. As for iPhone 4, . . . it old. Its from 2010. It only has 512 mb ram. Putting a completely new OS on an architecture like that is asking for lag and glitches.
I don't mean to denounce to denounce your experiences. . . or JimJ2Mz (the one I replied too đ It annoys me when people always think Apple doesn't care and is just out for the money.)
I had the developers beta of iOS 7.1. Trust me you won't regret it. It fixed a lot of bugs and my phone is faster than when I first got it.
If it's "old" and cant run a completely new OS then LET US DOWNGRADE TO A SUITABLE OS!!!!!! That's all we are asking for here!
There is a way to downgrade back to iOS 6. Apple doesn't give details but there are ways to do it. Just not in this thread.

If you're brave enough (highly not recommend) to try either the jail breaking method or find a "signed" 6.1.3 update to restore your device from with a computer, go ahead.
