IOS7.0 Mail shows Flagged message count when there aren't any

I go to the Edit option in IOS7.0 mail and elect to display the "Flagged" messages special/smart folder.

Then when I select Done and return to the mailboxes view it shows that I have 10 Flagged messages, by the number "10" being displayed on the right hand side. BUT when i click on that it is empty but still displays "10 Flagged" at the bottom on the status bar. Very odd! Especially as I don't believe that I have any flagged.

Also if i search for flagged messages none are returned.

If i deliberately flag a message then count is increased to 11 and when I unflag it it goes back to 10. Try as i might i can't get it to display zero or work out where the Flagged messages it things I have are.

Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on here?

I think I have found my first IOS7.0 bug!

collumend...thanks for the tip. But it didn't work. First, once I click edit, "mark all" doesn't appear an option for me. When I select edit, mark, move and trash are grayed light and I cannot select them. I have clicked on "edit" then selected each individual email and "mark read", "unflagging", and "move to trash" are my only options. When I select "unflag", the flagged inbox becomes empty but the counter still says that I have 83 flagged messages. Does it matter that I have an iphone5 that I've updated and not the new iPhone 5C or 5S?

Princessmarkiki,

I have an iPhone 4 so your 5 should work fine with this.

Some more tips to help make this work for you:

- make sure you have some emails in your inbox when you try this. (If i try to do it when no emails are present then I too find that the mark option is greyed out: it is logical because if there are no emails what is there to mark?) Send yourself one if necessary! ;-)

- also if you have more than one mail account set up then make sure you are in "All Inboxes" when you try this.

- you need to select "mark all" before you select flag. Flagging individual emails and then unflagging them won't work as that is not touching the "invisible" emails that email seems to be thinking are flagged.

I hope this helps you.
