Fast battery drain since updating ios7 for iPhone 5

Battery drain isn't the only glitch I'm having and all the answers seem to be the same...backup and reinstall...guess I'll have to deal with the glitches until I have the ability to actually back up my phone totally without losing stuff.

More than one glitch would definitely confirm a bad install.

As far as not losing stuff, you will still need to transfer your music and such to a new computer. iTunes only supports one way syn to an iOS device and not from a iOS device to iTunes. You wil need third party software to accomplish this.

So I'm basically stuck with faulty OS until I can scrounge money to get a new laptop...sigh. At least when I replace the iPad they stole too I will know to update the OS before i install anything!

So, IF i choose to try the iCloud backup and lose my music, since iCloud doesn't seem to see my phone from this computer or even on the app ON THE PHONE, can I even backup to the cloud?

iCloud does not require a computer or iTunes. It is not accessible at all aside from restoring your phone.

You will lose only the items you do not purchase from iTunes.

Settings > iCloud (Make sure you are signed in) > Storage & Backup > Turn on iCloud Backup > Backup Now

After the backup finishes Restore iOS Software

After the restore finishes Chose Restore from iCloud backup

Did you restore via iTunes so the it redownloads the iOS software?

If you initally updated directly from your phone and the update was corrupted during download then restoring from the phone will only resore the corrupted download.

Axeman, my question about iCloud even seeing my phone? Any clues? I use Find My Iphone app ON the phone and it doesn't even see it...would backing up even work? And my other option I guess is to download iTunes onto the old clunky desktop running Windows 7 (I think) and backup my phone to it. Then reset my phone, download the new OS and then run the synch to put my music and apps back. does that sound right?

Are you saying you can't see your phone on iCloud.com? Find My iPhone iOS app does not turn on Find My iPhone on iCloud. You have to turn that on in iCloud settings: Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone - On

Backing up to iTunes is no different than backing up to iCloud. If you were to sync your phone to iTunes on any other computer besides the one you sync with, it will wipe your phone. You can not backup to iTunes until after first sync so that won't help. The only way to save your non-iTunes music is to use third party software such as TouchCopy to move it back to your computer. Then add it to iTunes on that computer and sync.

Find my iPhone is on and the computer i'm on right now doesn't see my phone through icloud.com, nor does the actual app on the phone. Laptop was the only computer i used before to synch with. I suppose I can always rip the original CD's onto the desktop. Seems like such a huge hassle all the way around just to fix a couple issues.

Make sure you are signed into iCloud.com and iCloud (Settings > iCloud) on your phone with the same Apple ID.

Also be sure you have an internet connection on the phone.

I only have one Apple ID, and I am on wireless network now, and was on the one at home when I discovered the initial problem.

Has the phone finished restoring from the backup?

Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > if the button says Bacup Now it is finished, if it says stop restoring it is not.

Also, try resetting: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)
