Thanks!  Your solution worked perfectly for me!

It's so much easier than backing up and restoring the whole phone.

    Thumbs up!

Tried the reset network, location services on, changed and refreshed the automatic date, the ... still has no MMS, SMS, or iMessage in (I can send SMS out). FaceTime is not activated either. I cannot believe that the last option for me is to buy more space on iCloud and do a complete reset? Nothing was wrong with the phone prior to the update.

I have an ipad 4 and I did the iOS software update .. I have tried reseting network settings and signing  in on to both my facetime and imassages and I still get the same error message. I have tried the and that doesn't work. Does anyone have a solid fix for this yet ?   Reseting network doesn't work .... Same old message over and over. FACE TIME ACTIVATION... Could not sign in . Please check your network connection and try again. Says the same thing for imassages when I try to long in as well. I need a step by step process for the Ipad 4 .. Nothing is working ... In the post above someone saying to turn off imassages and facetime . I see nowhere in settings to turn it off . I see it for facetime but not for imassages. Can someone please help here .. I don't want to go to the apple store.   Thanks,

This worked for me, no need to erase content

Go Settings => General => Reset => Reset All Settings

I had the same problem with iMessage and FaceTime and I tried all of the above to no avail, so what I have done now is to reset my phone on the pc as a new iPhone, once you reset it go through the normal procedures, but do not back up your phone until you have sign into iCloud iMessage and FaceTime and you will find you can connect to all with no problems, once you have done that you can now load your back up now and everything should be back to normal...

restoring from iCloud worked perfect.  It did take quite a while to complete, but at least I'm not getting error messages and requests to go to iTunes for push notifications anymore.

Same problem, only thing that worked (After trying all the other ideas) was:-

Back up to ITunes (Including encrypted Data)

    1. Erase ALL Content from Iphone
    2. Restore Phone (Takes quite a while)(Accept message to update carrier settings)
    3. Once reconneted to Carrier (O2) Turned off imessage
    4. Turned Back on Imessage

    Activated first time !

plug your phone in. Click restore iphone in itunes. It'll ask if you want to back up, say yes. then it'll restore your phone and backup to how it just was exactly. Takes maybe 20-30 minutes (i guess this'll vary depending on your device size). When it's back up everything will work perfectly. Little effort and works great.

I had the same imessage problems. Also, i couldn't fix hours/date automatically....

Go in Settings => Confidentiel => localisation => the last topics "system services" => push the buttom for automatically hours..

Check the settings date/hours automatically, should be working now  ; and settings => message => imessage "on", wait.... it works !

    Please like if it helps

My iPad says "This iPad is restricted from creating iMessage accounts" - says the same thing for Facetime. In settings, they are greyed out so I can not access them. I have tried all the above solutions - nothing changes. Anyone have the same messge? Suggestions?

    Step 1:

Back up to iCloud or iTunes.

    Step 2:

Go Settings => General => Reset => Erase All Content and Settings

    Step 3:

After reboot Select Language, Region, WiFi and then pick Restore from iCloud or iTunes

Sit back and let it restore all your apps, music, photos, settings etc...

That's it!! iMessage & Face Time are activated and working absolutely fine now and it is not coming up with error "iMessage and FaceTime cannot sign in check your network connection and try again" or "Connect to iTunes to Use Push Notifications" !!!
