Itchfen, are you speaking about iTunes 11.1 on a Mac or the Music app in iOS7?
My question refers to iOS7 on an iPad and I dont see any Internet option at the top or the bottom of the Music app. thanks
I see what you mean...
I have Apple Remote on my ipad, so I used it to access my library on my imac, and I stream the radio stations through that. It helps me at home , but this would not be possible for me anywhere else.
There probably is a way, however, if you could access your itunes library through the cloud , or something.
Hope this helps!
I concur with yodathejedi about the Internet radio stations never being available on iOS. I have a 3rd generation iPod touch running iOS 5. The Music app does not have any listings for Internet radio stations.
If you want to find the "internet" tab on the new iTunes 11.1 and don't see it at the top of the iTunes player. You need to go to Settings and enable the tab. See the embedded image.
As for iOS 7... there is and has never been an "internet radio" equivilant built into the operating system. If you want to find something similar I would suggest downloading the Shoutcast Internet Radio App : https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shoutcast-radio/id299647180
Hope this helps!!
What kills me is that I can play the Internet radio stations on the Mac (Internet in Itunes11.1), however I cannot access through the remote app on iOS7 (it used to be there).
In iOS7 there is a "radio" selection still there (under ...more) but it does nothing. I assume that is where my US cousins can access the Radio, but us Canucks it does nothing at this time...
So the question is (and I think this may touch on what you getting at): How can use the apple remote app to control the radio stations that are available through the Internet radio stations in iTunes?
(if you do not use the remote app for your home network, you will have no idea what I am talking about: I can control what music I want to play from my Mac, through my remote express stations using my iPhone/iPad/iTouch)
It must be Canada ? In Minnesota I can access itunes radio stations through the remote app. It still does not exist in IOS7 when using the music icon, however.
Open iTunes. Click on preferences and then general. Enable the "internet radio" button. When you return to "music", there will be an option for internet radio. And for those who use an airport express to stream radio, buy an Apple TV to do so - then you don't even need a computer handy.
are you opening itunes on a computer, or an ipad or iphone?
I do not see it and I have looked extensively- not in general settings or anywhere within the Music icon. Did you try making a playlist of your internet radio stations via your Mac and then syncing it to your iPad?
To make it clear itunes and itunes radio are two different animals. The itunes that is on imacs and mac portables is osx based and contains the internet tab for 100's of internet radio stations (public and private). Itunes Radio is contained , also, on a seperate tab ( which is the Itunes DJ stations and genre stations). Unfortunately, the only Itunes that is on IOS7 is the Itunes Radio app.
So there is no way to get to the "internet" stations, other than through a shared library where a playlist can be made that contain the "internet" stations.
However, I can not get them to play, even though they show up through the Music app on the IOS7.
Using the Remote app, and or Apple TV is the only way that I have been able to stream the internet stations.
Hope this makes sense.
I know some in this thread were hoping for an Apple-provided solution in iTunes or Music. But I found a free app called TuneIn Radio which picks up streamed Internet Radio just like the Internet Radio in the Mac-based iTunes, and it works very nicely. Hope this helps.
I think they are right, This animal does not exist I have always wanted this feature also on the iPhone, There is some reason they're not allowing us to do this, it is kind of a priceless feature that exists on the Macintosh, maybe the only way around that would be to jailbreak the phone, and in general, screw that you might lose more than you gain
