I just got my phone last year and I am having this problem, I love apple products but this is a big inconvenience to everyone who is having the same problem, help. Thanks.

I had this problem with my 4S. I booked an appointment at the genius bar and they changed the phone for a new one without quibble (only 8 days were left on my warranty!)

Now after having the new phone for just over 2 weeks the same problem has occured - wifi button greyed out!

I will be taking this phone back and demanding a refund or at he very least a new phone with travel and parking fee compensation.

Apple has gone way down in my estimation!

Apple should be punished and everyone should "STOP" buying their ****** stuff. They chose to blame this issue to the broken hardware(that's the end result caused by ""APPLE""), but not telling us what the root cause is. I can't believe how contemptible they are. I have called Asia apple care and they told me they didn't see this issue reported in Asia and they won't acknowledge any evidence from apple forum or websites. I was ****** and told them that if I paid the stupid fee, can you promise me you refund my fee if the new phone exhibits the same problem after the upgrade? They said they can't promise that and they can only make another replacement if it happens. ***. If they are so confident with their **** phone/iOS7, why can't they promise that? Then I called US apple care. I sent them the link about this problem in apple forum and she told me "I do want to let you know that the likelihood of heat causing the wifi to be grayed out is extremely slim.". I don't know if they are all blind or ********. Even with so many postings, they can still ignore it and educate their staff to talk this BS. I really want to know if this issue happens to their own phone, what would they react??? Believe this BS themselves!~ ? APPLE, please stop wasting our time. I don't want to try fixing your **** phone myself!!!

I am having the same issue. 4s worked fine until I upgraded to IOS7. I have reset the phone multiple times without success. The wi-fi stays greyed out and does not work.

Interestingly, putting it in the freezer for 2-3 minutes does the trick. Wifi will work for a few hours. How long do I try this? Who knows. Frustrating to say the least. Let's see what the genius people say tomorrow!!

Since I updated to IOS7.0.3 my iPhone 4s WIFI has greyed out too. I tried contacting apple support Iindia for the issue and they have a standard reply to fix it "Please try resoring your phone through iTunes" WHICH DOES NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. About last week I accidentally drained battery out completely and when I charged it the Wifi was back. It worked for about an hour and then again greyed out. Next time I purposefully let my battery drain out - charge it to see wether the WIFI comes back and it did for 30 mins and then again greyed out. I beleive its a IOS 7.0.3 issue and hope Apple fixes it.

I had the same problem with ios 7.0.3 and an iPhone 4s and after I watched a thousand youtube tutorials how to fix it, suddenly 1 worked!! just blow dry your iPhone until it is really hot and than reset the network settings, after it restarted everything is fine again!!

I'm soo happy!!

Hopefully it works for you too!!

Hi, I have 4s and had the same problem of grayed wi-fi since updated to IOS 7. I kept on finding solutions, read every single mail on this forum and tried every trick to solve this issue. When I first time cooled down my phone in freezer and exposed to hot hair dryer after that, wi-fi was turned on and it wept working for one day untill the battery was down. Then it never turned on, no matter whatever I tried. Some times I could see address of wi-fi in settings but sometimes not.

The part of the world I live in has no customer support centre of APPLE but I do have technicians who can do repairs of all kinds. They suggested me to replace the wi-fi chip but there was a chance of losing the phone. I was facing a slowed down phone with no use other than for making and listening calls. I was very frustrated and decided to take a chance of getting it repaired.

When the technician opened the set, I asked him to blow some hot air on the wi-fi chip. He separated the whole motherboard from the set and exposed wi-fi chip area to very hot blower for 1-2 seconds for 3-4 times and let it cool naturally. The blower was so hot that it could burn a cotton bud in 2 seconds.

He assembled the set again and when turned on, every thing was fine. Wi-fi and blue tooth were working fine and I also noticed a quiker response of apps especially of SETTINGS and PHONE.

I wish this repair may help me and other affected 4s users. I think we should not fall in temptation of new updates and be happy whatever we have. But if we want to update then we should first do it in iTunes on our computers and then through it on our phones. It will not overheat our phones. I don't agree to the statement that APPLE claimed that 4s had a hardware issue, exposed by iOS7. I think they should have suggested to the customers to download updates first on computers and then on phones plus it is very disappointing that they still have not noticed this problem and if noticed then haven't issued any suggestions.

APPLE we love your products therefore you should care your loyal customers.
