You mean the article I referenced on Page 11 of this thread, and pops up in virtually every other thread about this issue?

Same issue for me... I am trying the fridge trick as we speak, hoping my phone will work again. I can't believe Apple does not recognise it as an official issue which should be fixed regardless of your warranty status.

Apple recognizes it as an issue. That's why there's a troubleshooting article for it, and has been for a long time now.

As far as repairs/repalcements outside of warranty, there has to be a line somewhere. Should Apple replace a device that is one year out of warranty? How about two? How about ten? Where do YOU want the line to be drawn? How long after date of purchase is a reasonable time frame for Apple to replace a defective product?

Because, technically, you already agreed to the one year warranty time frame, at time of purchase, when you agreed to the Terms & Conditions, and when you paid for the device.

But tell me, what, in your mind, is an appropriate time frame, from date of purchase, for Apple to replace a defective device?

i have this same issue. Has anyone tried downgrading to ios 6? If so, did it solve the wifi issue?

nuy: You can't downgrade back to IOS 6.x.x ...PERIOD!

What you all fail to realize is that there will be no fix for your WIFI issues.

Sell your iPhone 4's, 4S's and 5's.

Get the 5C.

It works like a charm all the time.

I got 7 of em.

They all just work.

So, this is my situation. My WiFi got greyed out and it didn't take me long to realise that it was a hardware issue. I waited around for 3 weeks trying all sorts of quick fixes. From removing the WiFi chip and heating it, to placing it in a freezer. The freezer solution worked, but for me, it only lasted 5-20 minutes, the my phone would get hot. Seeing there was no solution, I ordered a genuine iPhone 4S Wifi chip. It was only £5 and is cheaper than paying £200 for an iPhone 4S. So after I ordered it, my battery went to around 18% and turned itself off. I thought nothing of it and left it to charge. A couple of seconds later, the apple logo appeared, and the home screen came on.

Then, I looked up at the notification bar and saw my WiFi was on! To see if this was a fluke, I played some of the most graphically intense games I could get from the App Store to get my phone very hot. And guess what? WiFi is still on!! One thing I have noticed is that my phone is much cooler than normal. Anyway, for those who are in a less fortunate situation than myself, replace the WiFi chip. It is easy to do, and is MUCH, MUCH cheaper than getting a new iphone. If anyone wants a link to a video which I used to remove the WiFi chip, message me, and if you want the ebay link to the WiFi module I purchased, also message me.

Yes please send me the details i have tried everything and I am bored I just want to repair it so I can sell it!

Doesn't anyone read previous posts on this forum? I posted over 10 days ago that replacing the wi-fi chip sorts the problem.! Ah, well..............

Definitely get the tools. It has every single tool you will ever need regarding your iPhone. It is also quite cheap and good quality. The WiFi antenna may take some time to arrive, as it took me quite a long time to arrive. Please give me some points if this helped. Thank you!
