I just got my phone last year and I am having this problem, I love apple products but this is a big inconvenience to everyone who is having the same problem, help. Thanks.

This is what I did and it worked...Download the Witness Driving app and overheat your 4s using the app with all settings enabled and make sure it is charging as well... it may take 1/2 hour or so (maybe longer)...after that let it cool down (I held mine out the car window while driving) and then just do a reset of all settings. It worked on mine and it also fixed the battery issue as well. It went almost a day before it dropped to 99%, just sitting (not being used). It heats up right by the wifi chip and when you are running video, nav and charging all at once it gets toasty...enough to do the trick. It's been fine for a week so far..... http://youtu.be/FBi7wkatyPQ

tested this podmod.de repair service, wlan issue was not repairable by apple. applestore stated, it is a mainboard issue. works fine, wifi button accessible again, all is well. was kind of tired of homemade solutions, apple ignorance and useless comments, so took the chance of a professionall solution. paid 29 euro and had it done within one hour. can not do it myself in this time and for that amount of money.

Here's another podmod shill fake account, created today for the sole purpose of promoting this third-party, unauthorized service.

If you have to make fake user accounts to create fake positive reviews, then your service can't be all that good.

what gave it away? The one post by a new user or the "wlan" discription and the 29 euro he puts in every one of his posts?!

i wouldn't use them if they did a repair for free!

I too have the same issues. As well as the hundreds if not thousand of others who are all suffering with broken phones and high repair/replacement bills! This isn't on a small scale by the looks of things and surely this can only be a common fault on behalf of Apple's Hardware. I was told on inspection at the Apple store, that my phone had a broken WIFI and Bluetooth chip. I would therefore need a refurbished £160 replacement! I complained to the three network, explaining that in accordance to the European Consumer Rights Laws. Any device you have should be covered for at least 2 years to cover for faults such as this on the manufacturers behalf. We should be able to declare fault upon Apples device. After an hour he agreed to pay £80 towards my replacement refurbished Apple IPhone 4S. Still not happy! This is not fair!

Take responsibility for your manufacturing blunder Apple. You have loyal customers who have been sold shoddy devices and now face very expensive replacement charges. Even with a "new replacement". The chances are, you would only receive a refurbished Phone anyway. Please can Apple replace my phone? I've had hours of worthless calls to Apple.

Just take responsibility for your commonly faulty devices.

Thanks.

Apple is not here. They are not listening.

Same issue here on my Daughters phone that I pay for !

Clearly this is a major issue - regardless of hardware or software faults, I do not think I should heat or freeze my phone, in fact I should not have to do anything - the phone should just work !! and for the price I expect it to work for at least 5 years !!

I'm pretty sure Apple are fully aware of this WiFi issue and if they don't do something soon they will create a massive backlash from their "so far" loyal customers.

I BET SAMSUNG ARE JUMPING FOR JOY RIGHT NOW - WELL PLAYED APPLE !

Its almost as though the phones are programmed to stop working so you need to pay for a replacement or upgrade.. This problem is all over the internet, most time there is no reason for it, phone isn't hot or even warm. In most cases the phone is literally not even being held.

Ive seen this all to often to be just a technical fluke. I've worked for Bell mobility, Telus mobility and ive seen this probelm atleast once every 2 weeks, some weeks ive seen it up 4 -7 times. And it always seems to be between 1.5 - 3 years of the person owning the device.

I can accept that it could be a faulty transmitter and reciever but it happens accross all iphones and not just the older models... Why do people have to pay for a replacement when its clearly a manufacturer defect? This is unacceptable to me. Just another cash cow, weather it was intended or not.

I currently work at sasktel in canada (cell carrier) and i was helping a lady with her personal hotspot and the BT and WIFI stopped working right in the middle our session.

First off, **** the fact that this happens, and that nothing seems to be done by Apple. My wifi was working all dandy for a long time. When SUDDENLY, nothing shows up in my networks, but networks are clearly there because I can tell on my friends phone. Sometimes it'd show up, maybe 10% of the time. Probably less.

I take it to apple, the guy flashes a little light on the top bar where the caemra is and consecutively where the wifi receptor is, and he says, "HAVE YOU GOTTEN THIS SCREEN FIXED". Yes, it got cracked, I have my plan through Best Buy, I gave it to them and it came back to me all nice and fixed. He gives it back to me, "SORRY. CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. GO TO A THIRD PARTY". say what. Even though the wifi was working perfectly for months after I got my screen fixed. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THEIR SCREEN FIXED? I'm wondering if that really is why this happened.

I have found a way to fix it, not completely but it seems to work. I PRESS THE TOP OF THE PHONE. and I guess it clicks or connects again and I can see my networks and connect to it. It'll last for a while and if it disconnects I press the top again and it reconnects. Etiherway, the apple store should have fixed it, that's bullcrap. and screw best buy for not even letting me know that their warranty would automatically cancel apples.

There you go. That's where the true problem is. Best Buy didn't inform you. But Apple did, in the original documentation, on their website, etcetera. Any service performed by a non-Apple Authorized source voids your warranty. What you need to do is go back to Best Buy, and demand a replacement.
