Wifi greyed out on iphone 4s with ios 7

Hi, I have iphone 4s, before when I update my ios to 6.1.3 I got a problem connecting to my wifi it was greyed out. I researched some tips how to solve the problem still it doesn't work. I just got my phone last year and I am having this problem, I love apple products but this is a big inconvenience to everyone who is having the same problem, help. Thanks.

I had the usual iPhone 4s symptoms: WiFi greyed out, degraded BlueTooth, very high battery drain.

After updating everything and checking each app I finally tried the hair dryer but mine was too weak. I used my heat gun with the temperature on moderate. After 5 minutes the corner of the display started to blacken but would recover as soon as I took the heat away. I held it with the top 1cm mostly black but gave up at 10 minutes without getting the over-temperature warning. I did a hard reset and left it to cool. When I turned it back on all the problems have gone and all it working 24 hours later.

So I still don't know why it worked but I add my story to the data mix. Maybe someone will work it out.

It can't be a hardware failure or it couldn't be fixed without replacement.

If it is purely software why did my attempt fix it?

I suspect an aerial connection problem cause part of the OS to stay in a loop.

I think I was running 7.0.3 for a while before the issue. 7.1 changed nothing.

While I had the problem a number of settings pages were quite slow to load: 'settings', 'general', 'personal hotspot'

Guys i had same problem and went to apple store, they booked an appointment and said i'll have to pay approx £130 to get replacement because unfortunately my warranty has finished last month.

came back home and tried hair dryer method after watchin youtube video, and now i am happily using wifi, thanx man whoever posted that video, you have saved me £130. i will remember you while sitting on beach next weekend having glass of chempegne. bless you. such a shame my wifi broke just after one month of warranty expiring, hey apple did u do that ?? 😝

O my God... why it became like this..

i think its not a hardware issues.. but the software..

apple isnt listening on these forums. they are user to user threads. if the issue is software try these steps.

- reset network settings

- back up and restore. test issue before restoring back up.

- get phone replaced

coincidentally this is also how u check to see if it is hardware or software. if its software the restore and set up as new WILL fix it. if its hardware that step wont. which is y the next step is to get the phone replaced.

Well after the hair dryer trick the iPhone 4s has been working fine so people do it it works no need for the freezer just let it cool on it's own , re setting phone doesn't work so don't waste your time and as I have said don't waste your breathe talking to Apple complete waste of time

im not nocking on ur method of the hairdryer trick. to each his own. but for some people the reset DOES work so please do not tell people to not follow the proper troubleshooting steps. personally, id just get my phone replaced if i had to resort to taking a hair dryer to it but thats just me.

LOL, last comment was made tongue in cheek.

Actually no I was serious, there is a special evil department at Apple that writes faulty software on purpose.

On a serious note, my wifi failed a day or so after upgrading to 7.1, prior to this no problem at all with 7.0.

I tried every solution mentioned.

If more people posted relevant replies to problems instead of defending Apple integrity then these forums would be far more useful.
